Mine seems to be broken near the connector, I need to bend the cord near that area for it to charge. How do I determine exactly where it is damaged?

are you sure it's not the connector itself? No way to tell besides cutting...

Yeah, it only works by bending the cord. But its hard for me to tell where exactly is the problem

+hunter porth if you have a spare USB charger, this might be a better solution for you: amzn.to/1NCAtIK I haven't tried it yet, but I just ordered one to try with my Gamepad cradle. Make sure the charger you use is rated to at least 1.6 amps; most smart phone, ipad, etc chargers should be.

+Jvertus cut the cord below the damaged portion, open the case, desolder the AC connection from the board and solder the remaining cord back in. I'd have to figure out what to do about the strain relief.

Yeah fried electronics tend not to work, if lightning struck it it's almost certainly bricked the whole thing, feel free to do your own research though.

i have cats... soooo... is the soddering necessary? just twisting it up should be enough to conduct, i dont own a soddering kit myself and want to do this.

dragolath you could use twist connectors or butt connectors in a pinch. If you did a lineman’s splice it might work too

I only have a small hole in my cable and it doesn't charge I have to do all that for a small hole!?

America Noskcaj nhoj Maybe, assuming the reason it doesn't charge is something to do with how that hole got there. If so, it's likely that the wire is broken or shorted somewhere near where you can see the hole. In that case, you'd need to cut the cable there, strip it till you find good wire, and splice it as I've shown here.
