The Robot Devil is just one aspect of it, but I think it's a really funny recurring bit that Futurama uses robots any time they want to do a story with supernatural elements. Hell is real, and the Devil lives there! For robots, anyways, humans don't show up if they aren't looking for it. The robot ghosts get a sci-fi explanation about their "software" living on "the cloud" but they're functionally ghosts and are called such. There's even werewolves and Santa Claus, again, all robots.
