The people that wrote the wiki messed up for the Legacy part. Should've included how in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, should a player import a Pokemon from the Gold/Silver/Crystal Virtual Console release into Ultra Sun/Moon, carry it with you in your party, and go to the location where the Game Freak devs are, one of the devs will directly reference Iwata for helping with the development of Gold and Silver.

Iwata also made huge contributions to Super Smash Bros and made it possible for Pokémon Stadium to import data from the gen 1 games. Not only was he gifted but he was also always looking to learn from others. To think he newer saw the success of the Nintendo Switch.

I always like to mention when people mention the twin needle being the strongest bug type move in Gen 1 that it was also only known to Beedrill, which is poison type, and so weak to psychic type moves. Similarly, in Gen 1 there were only 3 ghost type Pokémon, the Gastly line... which were also all poison type and so weak to psychic type moves...

Here's one few people remember. In gen 1, going to an official tournament earned you a mew. They had a machine they'd plug it into, and itd place a mew in your box. I got like 6 from going... OT/ Luigiw was what it said on the official ones.

I think the thing that sums up Gen 1's brokenness is the Gen 1 miss. They programmed the games so they generated a number from 0 to 255 to check if moves hit. This number was checked to see if it was lower than the base accuracy of the move (255 for moves like Earthquake and Ice Beam that shouldn't normally miss). If the game rolled 255, the number would never be able to be lower than any base accuracy, so the move would always miss. The only moves that couldn't miss were Swift and any move used while under the effect of an X Accuracy, since the game would skip the accuracy check entirely.

I will forever remember my biggest Pokémon blunder: using a Master Ball on a Staryu in Pokémon Leaf Green. I'd just swapped pokeball types and was spamming through the menu. What made it worse was that I realized it instantly and was planning to use the master ball for Mewtwo. A close second yet equally embarrassing blunder was accidentally one shoting Zapdos when I back tracked to get it with my starter that was around two or three levels below it.

The real-time system was strange for me, because I wasn't allowed to play video games (I literally stole my GBA and bought _Gold_ with my own money), so I would play under my covers at night. Of course, this meant that I almost never saw the daylight in the game, and any chance to play during daylight hours and catch those Pokémon was a blessing.

The funny thing is that even the games never really incentivizes finishing any given Pokédex. Probably the best reward was a certificate you could print out if you had the GameBoy printer. I think Sword and Shield gives a thing that makes shiny Pokémon ever-so-slightly more likely to show up and that's really only aimed at the people who think nothing of spending 57 hours trying to breed one perfect stat 'Mon who'll say they're really into it even though they're basically biking in a circle while doing something else with occasional stops to see what's hatched. I realize that's a pretty terrible smiting by RNGesus but I had a friend that did that very thing. Sure he felt great when he finally got it but that Joycon ended up drifting so bad he had to replace it.

Why? At that point you can’t get enough EXP to actually play so it would just be endless grinding until you can get back to the point you were instead of just playing with your team *that you already built up* or just sticking the level 3 in your party with your other pokemon doing swap leveling

11:00 - Best attack of Bug type moveset was Pin Missile. Multiple strikes, high damage, but not many PokeMon learn it. Also: trick with Daycare moves - rearrange the best moves to the bottom of the list with Select button in a battle, and place moves to be sacrificed at the top.

Gold/Silver/Crystal is my favorite because of the 16 badges. I loved that when you finished the game, you got to visit the whole map of the first gen. Got those in 2003. My first TV? Got that in like 1994. Still works. VCR I got with that TV still works (mostly) as well (it eat the occasional tape, but otherwise works well). My original Gameboy? Got that back in 1996 or so? My Gameboy Color? Got that back in 2003, I think. Look at all these products I own that still work today! Many of them Nintendo products! Yeah, I wish I could order N64 controllers. Seriously, Nintendo used to build stuff to last like 30+ years. They don't anymore.

Actually pokemon yellow. (still have it and still play it from time to time. Battery STILL some how works. Dont ask me) Played Gen 2. But got out of pokemon till about the Switch came out with the Lets Go games. Got back in and went back and got the old games. LOL Gen 1 was awesome. And some of my fav pokemon. But it is FAR from the best Gen. Honestly. Fav Pokemon game anymore is Legends Arceus.

Not to get into the whole controversy, but according to many reports, it is not that japanese fans werent upset at the swsh changes regarding the pokedex, it is that they were not told. Those that figured out before the game release did raise complains and many others just dropped the franchise alltogether. There were many complains from japanese fans asking gamefreaks to show their "sincerity" and at least announce the changes in their home market before release, which they never actually did.

I just tend to get bored at some point and never finish them. I've caught Lugia and Mewtwo in my copy of Heartgold, but I never got around to training to fight Red at Mt. Silver. Feels like too much of a grind to get to that point. Also, I feel like as neat as an idea of "Kanto: X number of years later" is a neat idea on paper, but I feel like too much had to be cut out in order to fit in into the Gen 2 games. Not to mention that the trainers there feel like they should be much stronger. I felt too much like my team could just steamroll everything too easily. Does anyone else feel the same way?
