Okay this is what I hear starting from 1:33 Tonatiuhuia cuando nos guia en el camino (When Tonatiuh guides us in the path) Aguilas vuelan cuando rezamos en el jardin del "bron"? (Eagles fly when we pray in the "bron" garden) Mujeres fuertes, hombres valientes, la muerte no es el fin (Strong women, brave men, death is not the end) Ninos que nacen en temazcales, vientre de Tonantzin (Children born in temazcales, womb of Tonantzin) Atlachinolli, huehuetlatolli, danzando con corazon (Atlachinolli, huehuetlatolli, dancing with heart) El kopal en el aire, cuidando los ninos, esa es la fundacion (Copal in the air, taking care of the children, that is the foundation) Teokalli Quetzalcoatl (Church of Quetzalcoatl) Then it repeats the same again except in the second to last line he says "cuidando la familia" taking care of the family instead of ninos/children Temazcales are like a Mexican sweat lodge. Atlachinolli is a concept that is difficult to explain, some people would say it means water & fire, but it made up of three smaller Nahuatl words that mean water, earth, and movement. Huehuetlatolli is ancient wisdom or words of the ancestors. Tonatiuh is the Sun, Tonantzin is Mother Earth, Quetzalcoatl is like Transformational Knowledge or Understanding.

If anyone is Nahua, I have some questions if you could be so kind as to answer them.1. Where in Mexico do the Nahua people live? 2. Are there any Mexicans who are full blooded Nahua today? 3. Do Nahua people stick strictly to gender roles? 4. How do Nahua parents expect their daughters to act? 5. Are Nahua people today more traditional, like still weaving their own clothes, or more modern like going to shopping malls? 6. What are some Nahuatl girls' names? 7. What is important to the Nahua people? 8. What kind of schools do Nahua children go to? 9. What subjects are important to Nahua people? 10. Do Nahua people live in extended family homes? 11. What kind of clothing do Nahua girls and women wear? 12. How are Nahua children disciplined? 13. What coming of age ceremonies do Nahua girls participate in? 14. How many Nahua people speak Spanish? 15. How many Nahua people speak English? Thank you!

Megan why don’t you google the questions? I can tell you one, it’s impossible to know pure from mestizo because Latin America does not record racial identity. So like the blood quantum thing is only USA not Latin America. During the encomienda system indigenous were raped and the mixed children were considered pure if they looked like it. So it’s uncertain without dna testing

Unfortunately we Mexicans are racist to our own so there is no way of know how many people actually speak the language because people treat anyone who speak nahuatl like African Americans in the U.S in the 18 hundreds. I know my family use to be fluent in it but my ancestors stopped teaching their kids because of the discrimination in Mexico.

+CodeNameKatana That's the unfortunate thing. The original language is lost. The Spaniards, as well as the other imperialistic nations at the time messed up a lot of cultures and peoples. For example, Spain controlled the Philippines for roughly three hundred years. The largely spoken dialect, Tagalog is, for a lack of a better word, diluted with Spanish. Nahuatl is unfortunately the same case. An even more extreme case of the imperialistic destruction of cultures is Canary Islands. The Portuguese were the first to discover the islands. The people on a particular were known as the Guanches (GONE shis). Portugal saw all the valuables on the island and wanted to take it. They weren't successful because the natives put up a fight. However, believe it or not, the Spanish, yet again, came in and eliminated the Guanches by unintentionally spreading a disease to the natives along side a few battles. (Side note: beginnings of biological warfare) Due to this, their language is dead. Not much more than several words are know, and even these researchers are unsure of. What's left of their language is made from inferences from the surrounding islands and those peoples' languages. All of this begs the question: What would the world be like today if the Aztecs, the Mayans, the Guanches etc. etc. still existed today? If the Europeans didn't become the dominant factions in the world? Something to ponder and imagine.

+Joshua Guillemette Sorry for late reply, but Nahuatl is pretty much alive around Mexico (mostly in the central Mexican plateau, the Huasteca region, and the mountain ranges of Guerrero & Puebla. What's true is 1) that dialects of Nahuatl have been diverging for a looong time and a speaker from northern Veracruz may find it difficult to understand a speaker from northern Guerrero; 2) Nahuatl has borrowed extensively from Spanish, mostly vocabulary & 3) it certainly isn't in its heathiest state (young people aren't learning it & linguistic policies tend to stay still on paper). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nahuatl

marcos garcia Well now, the Mexica way is more of a mentally in a sense at least how i'm learning it..it is. It's a way of life also the native way. Because nobody in my danza group is from Mexico DF. But We practice the native way, the traditions. Happens to be we call it Mexica because those practices are more known! At least for someone that doesn't come from a modern tribe that's still practicing it's traditions fully. That mentally that you have of saying no shape or form someone "can't be" Mexica unless their from your block in Mexico DF is keeping us down. I'm not here to fight but to just to challenge you and me. If i hurt you i hurt myself. Peave & Fuerza Brother!

I completely understand...I knowwhat you mean.. ..the term mexica is only a small part of being an "Aztec". but I totally understand what u mean... in reality most Mexican are chichimeca descendents as far mestizos like us...... I mean if your born in the usa and have no knowledge of where you really come from then that's not your fault this country has so much to offer and going back to roots can be very difficult... keep reading tho bro as I am... no one knows everything we can learn from one another... thnx for keeping the peace... tu danzale! lol mexica tiahui
