Simply brilliant! One of the best ever jazz-funk tracks ever laid down. RIP Mr Longmire

This jazz funker from Bournemouth (now living in Los Angeles) still goes nuts when I hear this. The sax and guitar riffs are brilliant! There were many more great songs around when this came out. Might just have to dig out Jimmy McGriff and play Outside Looking in.

Cheekie Pete's in Richmond is where I first heard this back in '78. I instantly went out and bought the album Sunny Side Up plus shelled out a days wages for a 12" import of this track. Took it to Crackers in Wardour Street for the George Power session every Friday afternoon. Used to be a terrific dancer there named Horace. George loved it. Played it twice! Global Village, Lyceum in the Strand on a Friday night. Caister at Bank Holidays. Fuck but I would love to be a white soul boy in '78 again. We all got on because we loved the music, our own style and especially the dancing. In my 60s now and came across this just this morning. Suddenly very nostalgic and a bit melancholy. Happy days.

Brilliant! I was around in those heady days.I regularly went to Cheekie Pete's and the Lyceum.i had friends in the Magnum Force tribe, loved those times.

@@classicgrooves Man but I feel sorry for today's kids, well not my own because I force fed them soul lol. Imagine not having this music as the soundtrack to your 'back in the days', doesn't bear thinking about. The tunes, the moves and the clothes. That was it. Oh and the travel. I first thought Caister where the wheels at the bottom of the good sofa PMSL. As Funkadelic said, "One nation under a groove."

@@MrOutar6 Ahhh Cheekie's. Met the first girl to actually break my heart there. I did eventually get over her by the following Saturday when I broke her's back by banging her sister. I know, I know. In my defence, it was her twin and I just thought I was getting back with the other one PMSL

Mmm, delicious jazz funk, I remember my local DJ playing this when I was 14, together with tunes like Young Child Ronnie Laws & Expansions, Lonnie Liston Smith 🙏😍

All being well with planet, this song will still rock in another 40 years time. ‘Six Million Steps’ Rahni Harris, ‘All for You’ Ronnie Laws and the seminal ‘Running Away’ by Roy Ayers kick started me. Una Esta, Dancin’ and Prancin’ - really young. My neighbours played these endlessly . I use to press my ear against the wall to listen..

@@marknaylor8957I sort of stopped that sort of stuff early because I found the acoustics through wood chip wallpaper really crappy, plus it left dents in my ears. But, here’s hoping you get a lenient hearing. 😊

Out of necessity I was very selective with the records I bought - the music needed to be good. The fact that I bought this is the biggest compliment I can give. Glad I did, still got the 12". R.I.P. Grandpa indeed Tanya.
