This album, Rumours, is ranked in the top ten sales all time, any genre. You could do any song on this album and be pleased. There's also a ton of drama / relationships intertwined in this band. Most of this album speaks of it

not to mention a lot of it played out during the recording of this album. The fact that Stevie and Lindsay, Christy and John were all battling their personal relations and Mick getting in the mix is just amazing that this album was even made... but then again, the content of the songs were effectively therapy and a way to release what was going on, which in turn resulted in one of the best albums ever recorded.

No criticism intended, but there was a lot of fabulous music in the the last 50 or 60 years. It's always been there; you've just never been exposed to it. It's not hard to find great songs like this. Those of us who grew up with this music probably take it a little for granted. It's fun to become reacquainted with it through your eyes. And you're helping keep this music alive for a new generation. I'm enjoying watching your musical journey!

"Rumours" is just one of those albums that you can listen to the entire thing and turn around and listen again. It was #1 for 5 years until "Thriller" came along. Another completely insane album is Boston's self titled debut. Pick a song, any song. You'll definitely dig "Foreplay/Longtime".

There are two women in this group. Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks. I was listing to a biography of Stevie Nicks and it talked about when Fleetwood Mac asked Lindsey Bunkingham to be in the group. Lindsey said that he would if his girlfriend could join, which was Stevie. They said okay reluctantly, because they already had a female singer but they wanted Lindsey and said yes. The rest is history. Stevie Nicks has solo hits also, and is the only woman to be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Frame twice. Once with a group and the other as a solo artist. She is one of my favorite singers of all time.

Fleetwood Mac's Rumors is an amazing album. It took 2 years and a GIANT pile of cocaine (seriously... they had their dealer on speed dial and he would deliver to the studio) to create the Rumors album. Fleetwood Mac at the time consisted of two sets of couples and Mick Fleetwood, one couple had recently divorced, the other couple were on again/off again and fought often and Mick had just discovered his wife at home had had an affair with his best friend. They then did some partner swapping that created even more hard feelings (I'm sure the cocaine was very helpful). The album is alternately full of scathing "f*ck off" songs and optimistic "love is great " songs. At times, the artists refused to be in the same room with each other and recorded their tracks separately. The story of the creation of Rumors is insane. You should look it up sometime. What came out of the incredible mess is one of the best albums ever made. You will generally find it in just about everyone that matters top ten best albums of all time. It's a frickin' masterpiece. There is not a single bad song on it.

@@jons.105 Wow, throwing in "Peacekeeper" off of _Say You Will_ surprised me. I think that album's underrated, and it has some genuinely great tunes (I'd add "Murrow Rolling Over" and "Miranda" to the list of great songs on it). I also love "I'm So Afraid." That's about the hardest they ever rocked, and it's glorious, especially the live Rosebud and Boston versions. I also unashamedly love about half of the _Tango in the Night_ album, but most people dismiss it as 80's cheese.

@@HollowGolem I'm afraid to request a reaction to "Big Love" because the ones who do it use the Lindsey live version. Not quite Fleetwood Mac! But I love it, also Christine's "Isn't It Midnight" and Stevie's "When I See You Again" (one of her most overlooked ballads).

Always been a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac. Some before Nicks & Buckingham joined the group. I became an even bigger fan after seeing the live. In my opinion they are a much better band live. I saw them twice live. I was so surprised the first time in Cleveland because they had a harder and louder sound than I ever expected. You expect a band to sound different live but the difference for me, and others around me, was big! When Stevie lets loose live on Rhiannon it’s a totally different thing. Love them live!! Thanks for reacting to them!

May I suggest another blind side? Boston. The band is actually just one guy who played all the instruments on the debut album in the home studio he built in his basement, and asked a friend to do vocals. The band was created when they had to start touring. Read about them on the internet and then listen to their song “Foreplay/Longtime”. You will be amazed.

Hey man, want to get really blindsided by an old fart like me? Check out Deep Purple song called Child in Time (Studio version, or, as people call it today, for some reason, the audio version.) from the album In Rock. And if you pay as close attention as you did in THIS video reaction, you will see why I think the music of my generation was the best. I was born in 1960 and had the great good fortune of having an older brother that turned me on to music at a young age. I have been to over 30 concerts, and never paid more than $20 CDN (Pink Floyd 2x, Jethro Tull 2x, Yes 2x, etc.) Pink Floyd is my all time favourite group, but we'll get to them later.... Little music history : Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin are all considered pretty much the proto-metal bands, in other words the ones that inspired metal bands to form. Another interesting note : Ian Gillian played the role of Jesus on the rock opera album Jesus Christ Superstar. And the song Child in Time will give you a pretty good idea of why.

It's in the band name, Mick Fleetwood (Drums) John McVie (Bass) such a brilliant rhythm section, they are the two members of Fleetwood Mac who are still there all the way through from the first incarnation of the band in 1967. Mick and John are so solid together, a subtle powerhouse, never flash but such a perfect tight foundation for the five decades of an everchanging line-up of frontmen and women.

Fleetwood Mac's eponymous album from 1975 is outstanding, as well. I'm amazed that two distinctly separate groups could begin working together in January, 1975 and produce such a gem within just a few months. It sounded like they had been working together for many years. I actually think it has more songs that could have been hits than those on Rumours. Stevie and Lindsey were almost totally broke in January, 1975. By the end of summer, 1975 they were (combined) a millionaire. And the rest is history.

You would appreciate these FWM hits even more if you new the real-life storyline within the players who make up FWM......... through all of the off-again, on-again personal relationships can only be described as like living insde of a hurricane. That is what made FWM so very special and so very good. The music and lyrics were so believable because it was real life. Many bands would have disbanded over this level of turmoil, but all the players in FWM found a way to put the music ahead of their personal feelings (That is PRECISELY what this song is about). The story of FWM is an amazing read, I would recommend "Fleetwood Mac The Complete Illustrated History" by Ritchie Unterberger (2016). Great reaction, thanks.

In late 1974, while Fleetwood was scouting studios in Los Angeles, he was introduced to American folk-rock duo Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks......Fleetwood Mac became wht we know and love today by just adding these two people. Although Fleetwood Mac scored a UK number one with "Albatross", and had other hits such as the singles "Oh Well" and "Man of the World". . . it was Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks that brought a new and dynamic sound with their vocals and Lindsey's finger picks and strums were awesome!

THIS IS A RARE song for them. It showcases every member of the group. Catherine McVie (usually piano) and Stevie Nicks (the only woman to be inducted into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME twice) sing as a duet. Mac Fleetwood, on drums and the bassist (i think that his name is McVie also), is the backbone of the song. Lindsey Buckingham on the guitar provides all of the artistic flourishes.

Try listening to Postmodern Jukebox start with Haley Reinharts cover of Creep or Morgan James cover of Dream on. Or both of them and Ariana Savalas in a cover of All About That Bass

My older sister bought this album when it debuted and played it almost daily. Greatness. Every single song.

One of the greatest albums of all time. Even more remarkable when you know about the issues within the band when they recorded it

Good reaction - try listening to some early Fleetwood Mac when Peter Green was in the band and they had a very different sound.
