Yeah, they seem too young to have known what that was. That's fair, as Hampster Dance was first put out in 1998. Of course, the tune is just a sped up version of the song Whistle Stop, from the Disney movie Robin Hood, which came out in 1973. They're both WAY too young for _that_ reference.

The song you were wondering about was made a meme as the hampster dance when someone made a website in the late 90's(or early 2000's Idk) where hundreds of cartoon dancing gifs appeared on the page with that song playing in the background. It's a sample from a song but I forget what song that is.
