I've had the Wilco hitchgate solo "high-clearance" product for about 6 years now. I couldn't be happier with it. Regarding the install, have the wedge piece already bolted (loosely) onto the appendage before inserting into the hitch receiver. Lather the entire thing with a bunch of grease. Then tighten to secure.

I'll give that a try the next time I take it off fir inspection

About to see if I can make this rack work for my pickup. Because I'd like to keep what bed space I do have after my toolbox. Thanks for the share👍👍✌️

Hope it works out for you. Definitely nice to save the space of a whole tire.

Does it rattle when you are off-roading? Thanks

No, not at all.

After about 2 or 3 years the hitch receiver on the frame of the vehicle, and at times, related parts attaching the receiver to the frame, will start to develop cracks. The trailer hitch was designed to take linear stresses, the type you'd expect with pulling a trailer. With the HMTC, you have now introduced a rotational vector that has a substantial amount of weight, vibrations and leverage. The OEM receiver is not designed to take this rotational force.

It looks great man! I've had my eyes on one for the Subaru.

Thanks!! Does give it a sweet look. And could do a good job making your Subaru look meaner too. It's just great having a place to put the spare.

Get a file and file down that bolt a couple of millimeters. Looks like you got plenty threads.

Thanks!! Great idea

Unfortunately I’ll have to take it off every time I need propane. Because my tank sets behind the bumper. So I only have about 14 inches of play between the tank and Wilco tire carrier.
@AccidentalOverlanderАй бұрын
That is a bummer. But you definitely need the propane.

You just have to flip that bolt lol

That's a damn good idea Brandon. I think I'm stealing it.

Why don't you put the pin in the hitch then you don't have to worry about alining the hole

What about the license plate ?
@AccidentalOverlander8 ай бұрын
So I have not moved mine yet. They do sell a license plate relocation bracket for $55 (I could send you the link if you want). Or you could probably drill some holes in it and put your license plate on too. But for right now mine is a little blocked.

$1k?? Damn!!😩

Yeah it's a little pricey. But cheaper than a rear bumper
