Wild and free camping in the Manistee National Forest is what this vlog is all about. We have found two amazing locations near Lake Michigan in the Lower Peninsula of the great state of Michigan. So far so good.

Hi beautiful humans, Deon & Rensche from Krugersdorp, South Africa. We recently got the Camping Bug (almost in our sixties) and we have, I think almost all watched all your videos. You guys just bring a Zen to our being and the calm your videos present is just exceptional. Thanks for keeping it real! Just great watching you do your thing. If we could, financially, we would just pack up and let go of this techno life and disappear into the bush and camp 😅😅❤

I was reading you’re comment to Dome life. They are such chill people. My wife have wanted to down size or live off grid for several years. This last year we finally made a big change. We sold our 2000sq ft house and down sized to a 400 sq ft home. It’s been so liberating. Sometimes we just need to take the plunge and jump in. Good look with future adventures. From Texas.

Hi guys what's up! We live in Michigan and we're very excited to see you two were up in Manistee at the same time we were! We were camping and kayaking the Manistee river last weekend as well. I commented on one of your videos before and asked if you would ever come to Michigan. It's pretty awesome that you came and traveled to the exact same area we went.😊 As always, your videos are awesome!

I have been watching your channel for a couple of years now. Never missed an episode! I live in Traverse City Michigan, about an hour north of where you guys are at right now. My wife and I are looking at moving to The Ouachita area in Arkansas in a year or two to retire. If you possibly can get up this way, I highly recommend that you visit Leelanau County. Especially the Sleeping Bear dunes National Lakeshore. It was voted one of the most beautiful places in America! You don’t wanna miss it!

What a beautiful location. A few years ago, my family traveled west with absolutely no plan and no reservation; just a wing and a prayer. They had such a grand adventure , stayed open to possibilities and never had a single night without a beautiful place to lay their heads. Their trip was a full 3 months long. I pray y’all have a similar experience.

Love your lifestyle! One word of caution. I was in the state one week and in the cities only but I got Lyme disease. I live in Arizona and there isn't Lyme disease here. I had a hard time finding a doctor understanding my symptoms. It is a terrible terrible disease. I never saw a tick. I never felt a tick but I did have the bull's eye rash. I had to beg the doctor to approve a test. it came back positive. Fortunate for me it was within the time frame that if I take the medication given to me, the Lyme disease will not progress. I was lucky to be treated within that time frame. Enjoy but be on the watch.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying Western Michigan. My guess your 1st campsite was on the White River and you’re heading up M 37. Going to the National Lakeshore is a great choice. Get some smoked whitefish in Leland. To early for cherries but go ahead and get your fruit in a bottle, the local wines are the best. Be a good foodie, check out the restaurants around Traverse City. Waiting on your next vlog!

i live on the other side of Lake Huron, in Ontario, Canada. We are used to temperature fluctuations. When we camp, I always take my winter coat, even in July. Wait until you experience our high humidity. June is mosquito season in this neck of the woods, too. I find the mosquitos are usually bad until August. Welcome to the Great Lakes!

Greetings from Wisconsin! I'm right below you guys up there in Michigan. So glad you're enjoying the cool weather. Yes, the cool air you're feeling is from Lake Michigan. Our mosquitoes up north here are used to the cooler weather. They've been out since 50 degrees. The shrimp meal looked great. So glad you're getting to experience northern US. The farthest south I've been is Tennessee. Went there in June several years ago and it was in the 90's. Man! We northerners aren't used to that kind of heat! Trying to guess where you're going in the UP. You said it was a national spot. The UP is known for being desolate. However, it does have beauty. Porcupine Mountains? If so, hike up to Lake of the Clouds. Fantastic view at the top!

Most states have no sales tax on propane used for residential heating, but it is only for your primary residence, they are supposed to charge tax if you are from out of state. If you are running a vehicle on propane it is charged an excise tax which is already added to the per gallon price like it is for gasoline. I used to run an oil refinery so that explains me nerding out on this.

Hoping you’ll take M-22 north to the Platte River. Just after you cross the river turn left on Lake Michigan Rd. past the national campground. You can follow that road out to Lake Michigan or take one of the two-tracks to the right (it’s been a while but I think those side roads are still open). You’ll end up at one of the most beautiful expanses of beach on earth looking north to Sleeping Bear Dune.

Nice! That pad thai looks good and the camping spot is beautiful. Years ago I was up in Minnesota, we were in a bait shop and asked the guy if there was a place we could fish. He looked at us like we were crazy and said,"You're in Minnesota, there's water everywhere. Just stop somewhere and go fishing." We pulled over on the side of the road and fished a river, it was so much fun! Have a good trip!

If in western upper peninsula or northeastern Wisconsin. UP has a couple small parks on lake Superior . Little or no dispersed on lake Superior. Black river harbor campground is worth a night to stay and visit the lake and some cool waterfalls. Good food at Henry's bar in Rockland MI. Close to lots of woods and waterfalls. Also NF land is abundant in MI. We stay a day or two in one of the forestry campgrounds then scout dispersed from there. Ironwood has good shopping. Wakefield an excellent bakery. Bayfield county Wisconsin is touristy but beautiful with some NF in the middle. A boat tour of the apostle islands is recommended. Strawberries, raspberry's,blueberries and sweet cherries grow there for picking depending on timing. If you get near bruce wi in rusk county, they have $14 for two weeks dispersed camping in what is known as the blue hills, permit on line rusk county forestry site.
