Wild Betta Rubra - New Species Spawning and Lots of Fry!

Wild betta rubra are an awesome, colorful, and belligerent little species of fish! They have given me a few batches of fry already too - aren't they adorable!? I love this new species.

You can also put a fine sponge over that mechanical filter uptake to prevent any fry getting sucked up during the water polishing.

Just a question can betta fish hybrid with other types of bettas? Because do I plan on making a hybrid? A cool hybrid would be a half moon mix with dragon betta

Yes! It depends on the species. The domestic betta fish, betta splendens, comes in a lot of cool colors and fin varieties but it is all the same species, and they can be mixed.

Are this betta ok with cichlids like angelfish and blue rams because i like the fact u can keep pairs togethers im finiding a nice addidtion to my tank angelfish and rams i can see they are like cichlids its cool i wanna buy this betta or wild catch in malaysia which in my country theres alot of wild bettas theres alot in my hometown there one cost at over 400-500 dollars if its suitable with south american peaceful cichlids.

What I want to know is, Would it be possible to breed different mouth brooding betta? Let's say a betta rubra male with a betta macrostoma female, I'm not sure how aggressive betta rubra males are, but I do know that betta macrostoma male are extremely aggressive and territorial.

I was looking for these fish for SO long (living in germany). So long in fact, that i've given up and upgraded from my 3 10 gallon tanks to one 65 gallon. I just have some boraras naevus in it and some dwarf shrimp. Now I found some online and ordered all 5 they had. Do you think it's a little overkill keeping them in 63gal and are they ok with the boraras and the shrimp?

OK I love your channel and enjoy your videos. Regarding your issue with betta macrostoma. And if this is something you already are aware of please accept my apologies. Literally 25 years ago I purchased a trio of mouth brooding giant bettas they were huge and basically a dull green colour. They came in as contaminants to my LFS, Who imported fish directly to get certain rarities. Tentative identification was betta patoti And they were huge every bit of four and half inches. But we never were sure and the male Swallowed his eggs constantly just before they were big enough to Move out. Eventually I successfully produced several broods and distributed them through my aquarium society so hopefully they're still out there somewhere. The problem was the female would get gravid, And the mail would swallow the eggs he had so that he could mate again. The simple and obvious solution although it didn't occur to me until quite awhile was to remove the female as soon as the mail was holding eggs. Again this is obvious or something you already trying I apologise but just thought I would mention it.

Hi Eric, thanks for the comment! Removing the female is something I've tried many times and it doesn't seem to make a difference in how long he holds the eggs, but you're very right - that can be an issue! Especially if the female starts pestering the male to breed again

I like the way you do your videos. They are cute and informative, or maybe informative and cute. One or the other! Could you explain the difference in the betta complexes and which types of wild bettas are within those complexes. I would love to know more, but different people call bettas different names. And am having a hard time trying to learn about this. I don't feel it would be that hard to learn, would it? Something to think about! Thank you.
