About the artist:
James "White Boy Jim" Thompson, born in 1945 in Austin, Texas, became a notable figure in the 1970s blues scene, revered for his passionate music that transcended societal boundaries. His authentic blues style and deep respect for the genre's roots earned him a unique place in music history. Growing up in a modest, culturally diverse neighborhood, James was exposed early on to a variety of musical influences. His performances were known for their energy, often featuring extended jam sessions with fellow musicians that highlighted his commitment to the collaborative spirit of blues music and broke out onto the scene in 1977 with his hit record "Wild Boy". White Boy Jim was a regular at the Q-Tip Club in Harlem during the early 70s. It is said that after one of his stellar performance, Jim's idol - Jessiby Dickinum - was in attendance and when asked about the performance Jessiby was quoted as saying "White Boy Jim? Groovy. He's a wild motherf*cking boy..... his Kush is not that bad either."
