Calves liver with blueberry sauce and root veg mash is still, after around 30 years, one of the most memorable meals I've eaten. (In Les Fuchsias, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, France.) Look forward to seeing it re-created in your next dad-camp. 😋🥘

Yes Steve, Calves liver is probably my favourite cut of meat. It’s eye wateringly expensive these days. I’ll Probably be using horses liver 🐎 😬 All The best Steve. Many thanks for commenting, it’s much appreciated mate. 🙏

Cracking video Mate. I like these cooking masterclasses as they make me want to push my culinary skills at home and when out camping. Thanks again for sharing your adventures with us all.

Super video, as always, and of an area that's on my 'to do' list. It really looks a striking place, with all the geology and far-reaching views. That fish curry looked yummy... still find it amazing what you can conjure up on the hill and in a crowded space! Look forward to more... how about meatballs in tomato, cardomam and lime sauce? Or meatballs with creamy mushrooms and mash? And do either you or your dad like Chinese?
@belowaveragewildcamper10 ай бұрын
Hi Irene. Yeah it’s a fascinating area. Really interesting geology. I like the sound of the meatballs with a creamy mushroom sauce 😋 We do like Chinese. I made a Chinese braised pork dish on Cross Fell. It was top notch. All The best Irene. 🙏

Nice one Steve, looked like a cracking spot there overlooking the castles, ya need one of them thinny closed cell mats to stop the mat and bag slipping, something I’m gonna get, I sometimes have the same problem 🤣, atb Mick 👍
@belowaveragewildcamper10 ай бұрын
Hi Mick. Hope you’re well mate. I’ve got one of those thinnys Mick. It doesn’t seem to stop the slipping around. That Bora Gear bivy is just so slick. I think I need to take more care getting a genuinely flat pitch. All the best marra 🙏

Great video mate. Can we have some veg with liver and bacon..
@belowaveragewildcamper10 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Does onion not count?🤣 I forgot the bacon. Liver, Bacon, and onion with Mustard mash. Not sure I’ll have enough pans for another element. All the best 🙏

Cracking feast Steve. You’re fast becoming one of the most exclusive restaurants in the world! How’s about a dahl? You will be guaranteed to keep the Trailstar warm after eating.

H Steve. A Dahl would be a very good idea. Very hearty and filling. That will be going in my menu. All the best 🙏

Another great vid mate. Putting us all to shame with your food mind. Handy having the space in the trailstar in those conditions I bet. Enjoyed that, good work. ATB. Craig

Hi Kev. Lee was busy with both fish water disposal duties and camera operation. But you’ll be relieved to hear he was rewarded with a generous portion of fish curry. He thought it was ‘nice’. All the best mate. 🙏

Great video , great food !!! The sound of your titanium spoon grating on your non stick trangia pan was horrible to hear , i hope all is ok . Look forward to the liver and onions with your father . atb

🤣you aren’t the only one who struggles with the sound of me defacing my nonstick pans. I must remember my wooden spoon next time. It’s seems liver and Onions is more popular than I was expecting. All the best mate 🙏

Haven’t had liver and onions for years

I don’t have it very often. Mainly because no one else likes it. It’s one of my favourites though. 👍

Do you pre wash the rice at home before packing it for the trip? Looks perfect every time, not starchy at all.
@belowaveragewildcamper10 ай бұрын
Hi. No washing at all. I’ve stopped washing rice and since stopping I can’t tell the difference. Just twice the volume of water to rice. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 mins. Then take off the heat and leave for about 5 mins with a lid on. Then fluff up with a fork. Hope that helps. 👍

I'll give this a go, cheers!
