Wild Camping in "Hillie" my Hilliburg Akto

met up with my old pal Dan from ‪@CampLifeBushcraft‬ We went to a dried up pond for a camp. Just a quickie for me as off to work v early next morning . A little look at Hillie my Akto tent - still no sure on her tbh full detailed review coming.

I like my Akto for sure but you are totally right about the issue with just the single side entrance for ventilation. I'm happy with the one door when I'm pitched out on a windy hilltop though. I leave all my bits connected together as I'm way too lazy to separate them each time I hang the thing up to dry. Nice to get out for another relaxing camping night out with the Mr CLB. Nice :)

Not really purpose built for a hot camp in a sheltered spot, but more than up to the job in a driving storm on the moors or up the mountains ‘til the first falls of snow. Horses for courses. Bug net is probably the most essential element for Dan’s pond.

@@WildCamper too rich for my pockets, my missus demands a 6 man tent for that kind of cash. Going Aussie I normally hang a mosquito net under a tarp (the ‘El Cheapo’ solution but I can knock up endless configurations with the DD XL rectangular, even one that looks like one half of the Acto. 🤔

The one door keeps the weight down albeit by a tiny margin, allows the inner to be bigger and adds to strength by having less component parts. It's not really a summer tent and I prefer my cheap and nasty thing in hot/warm weather.

All valid points, but when compared to the xmid 2 tent which is 2 door and a good 1kg less and bigger (2 man) and a good 500 GBP less I struggle to justify it tbh 👍 thanks for the guide on this trip mate was good to see ya👍👍
