My man Joe C probably does try to pay bills on time and follow the laws, and he's made that like a core part of his pysche. "I follow the rules and do the right thing." It's so central to his identity that obviously YOU are in the wrong if it ever turns out he has broken a rule and you have the temerity to call him out on it. People can get so far up their own rear ends it's a wonder they don't vanish completely.

Mike- regarding your letters from prisoners. I volunteer extensively for The Innocence Project. Every one of their exonerations started with an inmate writing them a letter. The Project is unable to help 98 percent of the prisoners who reach out to them. Those guys don't hear 'there is nothing in your file on which to base an exoneration'. They hear 'we can't help you, but keep trying and you'll find somebody.' So they just keep writing letters.

Here in Ontario where I live if you have an expired tag if you can prove to the cops that you renewed it within 24 hrs they'll often delete the ticket. You have to go to the issuing station and provide the receipt and the sticker (which we put on our plates up here). Not always but some will offer that to you when issuing the ticket. I once drove a whole year without renewing it and when I went to renew it for the coming year the woman at the counter said "you be skipping a year".. HUH? you didn't renew it last year...NO SHIT? I'm glad my county is kind about registration issues. I used to be paid once per month. With insurance and other annual bills, paying car registration was always done after 3 pm at the courthouse the day before it was due (so my check hit the bank when my paycheck did). By the first of the month I knew how much money should be left for groceriesbafter auto bills were paid. Two days after registration was due one year I got pulled over by the Sheriff as I went home after the monthly grocery shop. He asked if I knew why he stopped me. I was tired and baffled. I'd been busy. He then said it was only 2 days overdue, but my registration was out-of-date. I just sighed, dropped my head to my steering wheel and said "THAT's why there's still money in the bank!" The deputy tried to stifle a laugh, wrote me a fix-it ticket and I got to go pay on Monday and have the ticket dismissed. It was an extra stop, but cheaper than $180 ticket!

“I ain’t the person they’re trying to make me out to be”-Johnson ITS HIS OWN VOICE IN THE PHONE RECORDING MAKING THREATS ! Good grief he can’t beat that in court at all. These people act so innocent even though the evidence is always overwhelming against them. When I was an officer, specifically Sgt Det criminal investigations, my favorite request in court when it came time for me to testify was “may I play a recording ?” Then I played the video or audio recording of them committing the crime or confessing to it. I let the defendant do my job for me in court. Of course there were always follow up questions but a defense can’t work with the defendant telling on themselves in their own voice on a recording. Because the prosecution asks “is that your voice on the recording, or you face on video?” No choice but to say yes. Just like James here his voice is on the recording and he knew the jail phones are recorded. There’s no denying it and if it sounds like there’s Ill intent then there is no talking his way out of it and no defending it. This is why I always told the suspects I interviewed you have the right to not talk and you’ve waived your rights. However I suggest you don’t say anything but it’s ultimately your choice. Very few remained silent . I just don’t understand If I’m ever in trouble the only thing on my recording will be “lawyer”.

I know in some states they stopped sending out notices. I live in VA and I never got one for my registration or license, and both had expired, I just got a warning, and they let me go.

Ahh Old Style, the PBR of Illinois. Speaking of… I remember drunkenly walking by the the Billy Goat Tavern once under that sketchy bridge (I’ve not been back to Chi town in years tbh) and decided we needed a double cheeseburger. My friend wasn’t prepared nor did they know the old SNL bit. I kinda felt bad for putting them in that situation. “You don’t actually have to get a double cheezborger with chips and a Pepsi , fam”. lol It was a violently Chicagoan experience for my friend. I think they forgave me? lol

I would like to see Mr Cesear say to HIS Wife " You are a REAL piece of work "... for not renewing the vehicle registration which costs me a $175 fine.... and I had to go to Court. And as Magistrate Fink pointed out... Had his actually registration ACTUALLY been paid on the EXACT day he was pulling over... the ticket ' might ' be dismissed. BUT... He LIED to the Officer. Karma

I hate when people say," I'm not the person they're trying to make me out to be". No one is trying to make you look like anything. You are doing that. Law isn't feeling, it's facts. If you're looking bad, that's because you're doing bad. And don't bring your son up. You should be home with him. I get times are hard, I'm a single mom and I have no support and I'm broke, but I work at a store and do what I can, I stay clean, I have 4 1/2 years clean. You always have a choice. You don't need to sell drugs. That's an old exscuse.

If you're concerned about your son's birthday, one sure fire way to guarantee you will be there and not in jail is, don't commit any more crimes. If I had a son that wouldn't be a problem you know, because, I guess I'm weird, but I don't break the law. Now whether or not his mother would allow me to, that's another story lol

I hadn't heard the drug charges before in Mr Johnson's case. Heroin is a serious charge. Especially if it's not his first. It might be a long time before he sees the outside world except the ride from county jail to state prison.
