I do NOT like CPS. They’ve f****ed up many times causing children to die because they deem unstable parents/ home safe or they take children from a home that is safe and put the children in foster care. This is the kind of Court I work in, child abuse/neglect, and I've seen how CPS has failed so hard on some issues, but overall they've helped and done as much as they can. They aren't paid enough and are so very overworked. For example, as of September, in my county, there were 890+ active ca/n cases and only 19 social workers for CPS for all of them, this is one reason things fall between the cracks. And, believe it or not, this is a fairly tame court room for abuse/neglect cases, many times it's having to stop so that the parent settles down and will listen to the Court.. Cheers to the Judge, reminds me so much of the Judge in my Division.

CPS is a disaster of an organization. My husband's ex called CPS on us over a dozen times for things like "pulling loose teeth too soon" and "boogers on the wall". They were all dismissed, until enough spaghetti was thrown at the wall and she was able to convince their 9 yr old to say my husband "punched him in the chest". Even with zero evidence, because nothing happened (we actually had cameras up to protect us, but the judge denied them as evidence), my husband went to jail ... because though they'd been dismissed, CPS was able to testify that they'd "been called to the house many times". It was a hellish, scary time for all of our kids, my husband fell behind in child support (because jail) and ended up losing his license & passport, which he needed for work. We lost almost everything, it was pure unadulterated hell and I still panic 6 yrs later when someone rings our doorbell. Then I see sh* like this and FAR worse cases- like that lesbian couple who murdered all their adopted kids- and I see an absolute trashbag of an organization. My experience and my knowledge of others in my area is actually not that of neglectful workers, but that they have to find problems in homes or they'll look like they aren't doing their jobs. There is too little oversight of their power.
