Wild Earth ~ The Limpy Lion and the Birmingham Pride

This is great to see. We have 8 members of the Birmingham Pride including the Male with the Limp and the 2 White Lion cousins. The guide Fred recounts the story of the Lion with the Limp. He is a survivor! When a new Male coalition takes over they will kill the cubs. This one somehow survived and is still with the Pride. That leg injury is due to a fight with one of the dominant Males. This Limpy Lion is over 4 years old and should be on his own. However he remains and is still tolerated in the Pride. The leg is better but his ability to hunt is hampered. He needs the Pride.

I really wish him the very best for the future and that he will be successful in hunting, despite his leg problem. From what I understand he is waiting for his cousins to be ready to leave with him, despite his age.

Thank you for the update. I hope the injured limp lion and the other sub adult lions will form a successful coalition. He can’t run well, but with his big size he can help take down buffaloes and bigger prey. Beautiful pride.

He really is a big male lion. For his age, he’s way bigger than average 4 year old male. I wonder what kind of potential he would have when he was 100% healthy

I have a question and I hope an answer to it because I have been following this lame lion since his injury, and I see that his recovery has taken a long time, and I wonder whether his injury turned into a disability or does it need a longer time to fully recover . Thank you for this video .

I am hoping his injured leg continues to improve. No one knows what actual damage was done to that leg so it is hard to predict. However he has shown he is one wise Lion. He has been allowed to stay with the Birmingham Pride - he doesn't cause trouble within the Pride and I bet he does his part when they hunt a large prey. This Lion is a large and impressive Lion - I hope he will join with the Sub adult males of the Pride when they leave. That would make a wonderful coalition!

That Limpy Lion was just a nickname. He is known as the YBM or Young Birmingham Male. there are many, many video of him on this channel and others.
