i was stuck in the middle of the states when my car broke down...i actually quenched my thirst with some wild ginger and dandelion. it was about 6 hours in the heat before anyone came by to help me out.

yes, but make sure they are three cornered leeks and not snow drops if they don't smell like garlic then don't eat them.

im not the best speller myself but please double check so you make sense. i dont believe its 'fun' to forage for food. but it is a good idea to remember how to do this. plants can be dangerous and helpful. there may come a day when we need to know what we can eat. i say better safe to not forget our ancestors but be happy shopping at the market. you never know when you might need to have a snack of wild vetch :P

The plant you are decribing as phototoxic is NOT hogweed it is the invader from teh Amoazon( literally!) Giant Hogweed, which can be seen on riverbanks, usually about 10 feet high or even more. I spoke toa tinker once who ahd eaten it as a little girl ( I presume it was giant hogweed as she had seen me grubbing pignuts, hence convo. She said she came out in very serious large blisters. Pigweed is a fragile palnt and only around 2ft high and completely diff. Tried hogweed once not tasty at all!

what the drawing??? no it's a pic of hogweed. but they do look similar, so you've got to be careful.
