Nice to see a comeback win, regardless of how you played in the first half. The key is to make hero calls when the other guy is bluffing. You might want to write that down. 😂 A week off is hard to do because of the vlog, but time away from the table is often what the doctor ordered. I can't speak for all your fans, but I'd rather miss a week and get relaxed, confident Doug than watch you feel like you're struggling. Not that I'm saying you need time off. Your play was much better this week than the week before. Just reminding you that you can give yourself permission to take care of your needs. 😊

I'm happy you got the W, Doug!!! I can't stand flopping 2 pr, I almost always lose. With the QQ flop on that low connected flop, that's always a check. I did the same thing with KK, knowing I'm supposed to check, and sure enough, the villain had a set of 5s. I know bc he raised me, I folded, and another player called, so I got to see showdown. Anyway, nice score. Keep up the good work.

Yeah checking a flop is fine, player dependent IMO. If they will call down with medium pairs, I try to get 2 streets of value.

You gotta love it when crazy players make comebacks easy. Q5: Be very careful about raising flop in bomb pots. Anyone can have any set, any two pair, and any straight draw, plus any bdfd. You did not mention where the bet and call came from, which are both very important when considering a continue. Any of the early plalyers can have the nuts, even when they check, planning a x-raise. I'd probably just call this bet, especially if the bet came from EP because villain is betting into 6 - 8 players. It does not have anything to do with this particular hand, but some strategy considerations: 1. Always check anywhere but LP. If someone bets, you can raise to get HU. If you bet, the entire table can just call. 2. When you do bet, always bet small, like a range bet, because you are betting into uncapped ranges. 88: I just fold pre vs raise and 3bet, especially against such a tiny stack. QQ: You beat yourself up enough. I'll just say, 4-straight boards are notoriously underbluffed. That's the way I generally look at a hand like this one: "Is this spot underbluffed? Yes. Fold."

I agree your game was off. Happy you got out when you were up a good amount. I think forgetting about poker in Texas would be best. That game does not resemble the 1-3 at Capitol at all, it’s in an entirely different universe.

Hey Doug how do you deal with down swings I had a sun run aug-Oct and November I had nothing but loosing sessions.

it is one of the toughest things to deal with. Taking a break helps, realizing that variance is much larger than anyone thinks. I feel the biggest key is to be over rolled for the limits you play. When those long cold streaks happen you can still play your game without fear of going broke. I play 1-3 and 2-5 with a 20k+ bankroll. When I have a down swing I can still play my aggressive game. Over 30+ years playing, Ive noticed my play is always better when I have a comfortable bankroll.

Hey Doug. I don’t think it was a case of you not playing well, more of a case of you having too much of a nibble in certain spots for you to fold all the time!!! It’s an easy fold when you don’t have much of the board not so easy when you have 2nd pair or better!!! it can be really frustrating when time and again you get a chunk of it but always seem to be on the wrong end of things, your more than good enough to play through that and come out the other end, but it does dent your confidence and have you 2nd guessing situations!!! The fish money was always in play. I noticed him tipping his intentions and just called with QQ when I would normally 3 bet. That might have scared the fish away

Maybe you should consider taking a break from the game!,I think you are a little bit off,more mentally after that Texas game.Take couple of weeks….don’t think about poker at all.Works for me after bad sessions
