As an interesting tangent... the wild hearts crew dolls and the new ILY disney dolls fit each others clothing VERY well... the jasmine fashion pack even PERFECTLY matches Charlie's hair...

These dolls were my entire senior year of high school. I got back into doll collecting during my junior year when there was basically nothing in the toy section except surprise toys and pooping animals, so when these came out, I was all over them. I loved them because they were like the perfect combination of bratz and monster high. Shame they never got any advertising or a web series. I would’ve loved for this line to have continued.

i have a theory that mattel not caring about the dolls was why why we got a bit of body diversity + darkskin with textured hair since they dont usually let them on first wave because "tHeY dONt sELl wELl "

Honestly, I remember seeing these dolls on shelves and being really curious about them. I never bought any of them since they had already been removed off shelves by the time I got interesting in them, but it's sad the way how they went out. I mean, the lack of promotion, the lack of a real push to sell them outside the US, and the way how they were destined to fail is really upsetting. While I can say that I don't love certain aspects of the dolls, quality being one aspect, I can appreciate the effort and care into making them. I also was shocked with the fact that Charlie was meant to be Native American (or part Navajo as mentioned in the post), since representation of Native American/Indigenous folks in fashion dolls can be really few and far between and seeing dolls like Charlie being represented is so amazing to me. The diversity in this doll line overall is honestly worth applauding. Although I don't love a lot of newer Mattel products or doll lines in general, these girls deserved better 💖

It was so damn cool of you to include the amount of crediting you did, really shines a light on how uncommon that is. I mean I see it sometimes, but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing a face to a name, along with what they were responsible for! Very glad KZbin suggested your channel

I really like Jacy's body sculpt, so I'm disappointed they only used it for one doll. I must be expensive to create entirely new body sculpts. Also, Congrats on 100 subscribers! you deserve a lot more. :)

I think you're absolutely right I think that's the only reason that the Monster High dolls all had basically the same body type. I like different types I just wish they would have introduced a new characters instead of taking dolls that were our favorites and completely changed him till they were unrecognizable.

Wild Hearts Crew is gone but not forgotten. I've had Rallee and Charlie since Dec. 2019 and have been a huge fan since (I still need to get the other 4 girls tho).

I fall in love with Wild Hearts Crew from first promos. They are so cool! I’m sad we didn’t have more dolls in that line. Also more dolls in WWE Superstars doll line. I love them too.

The Cory earrings are from Kala Mer'ri from mh Would be cool see one doll authopsy of 2015 Bratz or Bratzillas too Also my theory on the whc fail was that omg came a few months later and had more atention, if mattel wasnt planning on continuing the line having such strong rival was the nails on the cofin

Honestly i never really forgot about them , I had two of them and I remember just loving them for their edgy fashion and cool hair. It’s sad that they never had proper promotion , I think these dolls had so much potential😭🖤

The first time I saw them I was so excited for them especially with the alternative style since that’s also my style. These were honestly the first doll line that I purchased every single doll. I just need the fashion packs. I do wish they had stayed it would’ve been neat to See what they could’ve done next like playsets , new characters etc

Me and my sister loved Wild Hearts Crew for us Jacey was the first doll that came to stores. We still have ours I do miss them and wondered what happened to them . I think it's awesome that Charlie is supposed to be Native American I didn't know that til this year either

I wish Mattel would bring back EAH and WHC. They're amazing lines that were cut due to budget.
@thatponighoul Жыл бұрын
Such an interesting and informative video! I honestly feel like WHC could have done really well if it were given the proper promotion. Part of me feels like Mattel didn't want it to succeed because they wanted the talent working on it to focus on other projects instead. But that's all just speculation. Especially now that we know that new MH stuff began being worked on in 2019. But that's just speculation.
@thatdollguy813 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely loved this line, and was so frustrated by Mattel's lack of promotion and marketing for these gals! They were brilliant, but I think they pushed the WHC aside for their re-launch of Monster High!

I feel like that era in doll history is often glanced over. DC Superhero Girls, the MH reboot, the EAH cancelation, these all felt like they occurred around the same time as WHC and those are just the ones I knew of at the time. I loved DC Superhero Girls and just happy to see it mentioned

Actually, around this time, I do remember some collectors saying the dolls’ fashion/clothing/designs felt dated and out of touch. Maybe because these clothes were inaccurate/out of style at this point? Who knows… 🤷

Maybe because they Mattel were working on g3 monster high and they knew that the wild hearts crew dolls weren't going to do well they ended up going on clearance and now gone. So monster high coming back is a big reason why the dolls didn't do well

On the topic of toy sales and production being slowed down by covid to my knowledge toys actually did pretty well. I work at a toystore and according to my boss and senior staff a lot of chains did so well during lockdown that many went public. I don't know how much if this is due to dolls but I don't think the pandemic should have affected it too much.
@clusterstar04 Жыл бұрын
Toys did really well but "heritage" / established toys performed the best. With the pandemic, kids stopped going to stores so the experience of discovering something "new" on shelf and begging your parents for it slowed down. Instead most of the pandemic purchases were driven by parents looking for things to occupy their kids with - items like games, or brands like "LOL OMG" / "BARBIE" were best sellers as parents knew what these brands were and felt comfortable purchasing them. Nearly 0 new brands (with the exception of RH) really had any success building a bigger following beyond 1-2 seasons.

I think it's not so much that they killed Monster High but the way they did it. People felt let down by Mattel and they didn't trust it. Honestly I'm looking at these dolls now I'm all they're really cute why didn't I like them and now I remember why.... because I felt they were replacing Monster High and I hated them. They had two sets announced that they were about to release for Monster High there was a tea party set that was really super cute and a fuzzy hoodie line. But then all the sudden they just canceled them. I don't even think they made an announcement people found out through rumors. I honestly don't trust Mattel. But I did join the fan club cuz it's pretty much the only way you can get anything. Like have you seen the new Ghoulia? Don't you have any friends in the states who can send them to you? You sound like a nice person and you make a lot of sense but I do think people were pissed off at Mattel. Anyhow I'm glad I found your Channel.🎉
