Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses couldn't drag me away
I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or off stage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses couldn't drag me away
I know I've dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses we'll ride them someday
Wild horses, couldn't drag me away
Wild wild horses we'll ride them someday

My mother loved this song. She died unexpectedly in her sleep. After the funeral my brother, his family and mine drove up to the Grand Canyon to scatter her ashes after we were done and started to drive out of the park my wife says "We should have played her favorite song as you guys scattered her ashes, what was it? Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones I replied. We had some small talk for a few minutes then she turned on the radio and Wild horses started to play. Me, my wife and our two teenagers started to sob uncontrollably so much so that I had to pull over. My brother who was following in the car behind us must have thought that I wanted to say something so he pulls up next to my vehicle rolls down his passenger window but before he could say a word I just turned the radio up. I'll never forget the look of pure anguish he had, You've never seen two grown men cry as hard as we did.We all felt her in that moment she was saying good bye.

I'm crying too. My first husband to be and myself were still in high-school and I remembered that song in particular cause when he'd meet me at the bus stop and he in his car he always had Wild Horses playing on the 8 track . In memory of you Terrell Glynn Rogers RIP and there you have it. The perfect ending after all.

This song reminds me of my mom, who loved it. She died on March 27th, 2023 of heart failure alone in her bed. We didn't expect it at all. She hadn't told us that her aorta was 90% clogged. She raised my two siblings and I alone. I've been a mama's girl for over 40 years. We just had her celebration of life the day before last. I miss her very much. 😢

To me, this is a song not only about the bittersweetness of a mortal life with the ones we love, but about the mistakes we make, the time we take for granted, the innocence of imperfection, the strength and depth of hope in the face of a life bound to test us, fuck us up and ultimately undo us. It's a song about the things that remain, even after desecration, separation and death. Immortality, and mortality, woven together in this beautiful song. It gently speaks of the bonds of love that stay, even though time together will end. It seems to talk about the whole world, yet always feels so profoundly personal to whoever listens to it.

Thank God they removed the dislike count. Maybe I won't have to see this kind of comment anymore that demands that _every single person in the world_ appreciates the same thing as they do. There's nearly 32 *million* views on this video, and you get your panties in a twist over 7 thousand of them (roughly 2 in ten thousand), many of whom maybe didn't even hit the button they were looking for, or were too young to understand, or demented or whatever. Your perspective (or lack of it) is quite insane.

Beautiful song. But bittersweet. Reminds me of a girl I used to know to whom I had a child with. Alcoholism took hold of my mind, body, and soul and left(for good reason) this song we would play befor I fell ill. Every time I hear it I think of the good times we had. Now that I’m over a year sober, the pain is excruciating when listening to this but empowers me to fight and hold hope that maybe one day we will reunite.

My father died when I was in grade 11 back in 2018 today. He never saw me graduate, never met his nephew plus all the small things and accomplishments I wish I could share with him. The Rolling Stones was one of his favourite bands, he and I would listen to them in his den. I am using his den to do my university homework. He loved horses and he and I would drive to the country in search for some to say hi to and pet if possible. This year I could not find the voice recording of his last conversation with me which upsets me greatly. I know its been four years, but I miss him and I don't think I will ever stop.

A long time ago on the East side of the Flaming Gorge Dam I saw a herd of Appaloosa running, when two stallions turned to have it out. We watched them for about 30 minutes as they tore into each other for control of the herd. Magnificent creatures.

Thank you for your comment, I haven't thought about that in a long time. I was living in Green River at the time, working in the mines. My in laws were with us and they had never seen wild horses before. We don't own this world, we are stewards, it is our moral obligation to pass it on in better shape than we received it so that our grandchildren may see wild horses.
