This is so beautiful. My mom, an amazing pianist since an early age was in her final days and hardly responsive. She was always a bit critical of classical guitar - but I played this for her on headphones and her enjoyment and approval bringing a peaceful state I will always cherish.

Scott’s arrangement for classical guitar of “Wild Mtn. Thyme” is the go to version of this piece of Irish/Scottish music. The song dates back to the latter half of the 1700s. You can find Scott’s arrangement on the internet if you search around. I got it from Elite Guitarist, and I also use their video tutorial to learn it. It is a seriously beautiful song, and Scott’s arrangement and his virtuosity on the guitar are unmatched.

GSP has it but it's way off from this performance. You'll have to make many changes, not playing notes, adding chords and notes. Also changing the rhythm in some places. I'm not sure if the publisher made mistakes or Scott's version here developed as time went on after publication.

When you have a fat stomach it's hard to hold a guitar in the proper position. Being a big guy myself I have struggled with trying to hold the guitar as I was taught. So I can completely relate.
@ebookpioneers
@ebookpioneers 9 жыл бұрын
There's nothing whatsoever proper or improper about holding a guitar. Either you're playing the right notes at the right time with the right amount of force or you're not. Classical guitars don't weigh anything. I like to just tuck mine up under my arm the way many Mexican troubadours do. At 6'4", that's very comfortable with my long arms.
@tobims2
@tobims2 6 жыл бұрын
of course, everyone can, in general, hold the guitar as he or she wants to. But there is a good reason to do so like the "usual" classical guitarist does (between the legs): the guitar corpus is easily fixed and both hands are free to move forward and back. Holding the guitar like Scott Tennant is doing (and I am, too, as it is more comfortable for me), the guitar has to be fixed with your right arm and/or your left hand and you are not that "flexible" or "free" while moving on the fretboard. Another point is: the angle of the guitar/fretboard to your left hand. If it is steeper, it fits more to the angle of your left hand (for example index finger for a barree) and you don't have to rotate your hand/wrist that much while moving on the fretboard. The more horizontal the guitar lies, the more you have to twist your wrist. But: see Glenn Gould how he used to play the piano, kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4Srpax9mJ2jnM0 which is way away from what is tought to sit...
