Usually the first thing to pop in the spring are wild ramps then fiddlehead ferns and pheasant back mushrooms followed by morel mushrooms.

Ramps are basically a wild onion that is crossed with wild garlic. One of nature’s miracles.

Very good and they’ll keep growing back each year as long as you only cut the leaves and dig up the bulbs. The leaves have plenty of flavor on their own.
