I know it's probably too late but here are some tips when you play Jayce. 1. Don't take Conq every match, Phase Rush is recommended in most cases for its ability to chase/kite enemies. Take conqueror when you're matching up against tanky champions. Or Aery if you want to poke early. 2. At the start of the game, buy 500G AD item instead of mana crystal. (HD already mentioned this) 3. Don't immediately buy Manamune as first item, instead only buy Tear of Goddess and wait to it to finish stacking. You should buy lethality item as your first item instead. You lose a lot of value as you are not playing Ezreal. 4. Instead of using Q after E, use Q first and immediately cast E. The acceleration gate will be placed at where you used Q so you can just tap it in most cases. That way, it's not only faster but also adds an element of surprise. 5. Hit turrets in Hammer form to deal more damage (Turrets take less damage from ranged autos). 6. Be sure to use all abilities before you switch forms. For example, if you are in Cannon form, use Q E to deal damage then W to increase attack speed for your Hammer form. I'll update if there's anything I can think of.

I like the concept of Jayce, that he can do both. As a sup main, I'm testing at the moment a lot of heroes for the baron lane as my second lane to play - rarely happens but sometimes.

Jayce definitely feels strong, but with this build you are as squishy as an assassin and don't have good escape tools like proper assassins have. It feels rather meh unless you get ahead. Especially meh vs bruisers, like darius, camille, irrelia. You also don't have enough ability haste to properly poke. One build I found is tanky jayce, you just build items like iceborn gauntlet (solves mana problem), black cleaver, death dance etc. While your poke is pretty bad you still do a lot of damage because of ability haste, everytime you switch form you have your abilities up and they have quite good base stats

Huh... I personally prefer going Manamune into all lethality/ Armor pen item into a GA final item. The ability haste is great and the damage is great. All I have to do is maintain my distance or trade effectively and I win, I do like building an iceborn Gauntlet too tho.

Here's another thing you can do this as melee:- quickly press Q+E instead of E+Q, with this the enemy will have less time to react.

Don't forget your first 3 abilities take 5 levels each. Use the line to run away then turn and fire big boom. Or to fire long range the run thru the line to get close, hit ult and hammer-jump. I love hammer jumping and 'mother slapping' enemy later back under my turret....

Jayce's 2nd skill in Hammer (melee) form also has a passive which gives 5 mana per auto attack.

Caitlyn imo is a worser version of jinx in terms of disengaging or running from team fight. Jinx has stun that can hit 3 people plus if she gets takedown it's a free movement speed buff. Caitlyn only has her E, a worser version of Akali E and her root isn't as reliable due to the smaller hitbox
