Wild Rivers Waterpark Construction Update May 2022.
Located in the heart of Irvine and the Great Park, Wild Rivers is looking to once again establish itself as the premier waterpark in Southern California. While we have been around for nearly 30 years, we are coming back brand new and bigger than ever. As before, we are dedicated to bringing our guests the best, most fun and exciting waterpark experience California has ever seen. The newly designed waterpark will have over 20 acres, 20 rides, 3 restaurants, and endless fun. You’ll come for a day and stay for the summer. Whether you come for a few hours or a few days you will have an amazing experience. We create lasting memories for you, your friends, and your family.
At Wild Rivers, we are all about delivering an unsurpassed guest experience. The first way we will do this is to manage capacity. It’s about riding rides not waiting in line for them! We will also release a limited number of season passes to be available before the end of this year for guests to lock in a full summer of fun within our all-new membership program. Our goal is for everyone to be able to experience the best rides and the best customer experience in the newest and best waterpark. With such excitement building around our grand reopening, we are expecting a high level of demand so tickets will be available by reservation on a first come first serve basis with a daily limit so that everyone that comes to the park has the best experience possible. We are excited for the years ahead and look forward to welcoming you to our brand-new home. See you all very soon!

HISTORY
Wild Rivers first opened in July of 1986. It was built on the land that was formerly occupied by Lion Country Safari. The first year there were no wave pools. Wild Rivers introduced the first side-by-side wave pool in the country in 1987. During the 27 years of operations, The Abyss, Chaos, The Patriot, Bazooka Bowls, and Buccaneer Bay were all added. Wild Rivers eventually closed in 2011 after the Irvine Company decided not to extend the Wild Rivers’ lease and built what is now the 3700 unit Los Olivos Village.
During our 27-year run, about 10,000,000 guests visited Wild Rivers and we established ourselves as one of the premier waterparks in the country. Wild Rivers was also the largest youth employer in Orange Country. We became a beloved member of the community known for superior customer service and safety. It was because of our reputation that the City of Irvine decided to lease us the land to build the new Wild Rivers.
Situated on 20 acres, 50% more than the previous park, the new Wild Rivers will open with an unprecedented 4 six-person raft rides. We will also have just about every type of experience you can have at a waterpark…open and enclosed body slides (some with translucent and aqua-lucent sections), mat races, bowls, AquaSpheres, Rattlers, Constrictors, Pythons, Boomerangos, and a water coaster. For the kids, there are kiddie slides, play elements, and a 500-gallon tipping bucket on a giant 30-foot play structure. Wild Rivers is also planning for the future. We have an option to expand our footprint by adding another 3 acres of land for even more attractions.
But our guest-centric approach will not change. Having great rides is one thing but not having to wait in long lines to ride them is the key to a fun day. Wild Rivers will control the attendance level in the park to ensure that our guests have a great experience. Our goal is the make Wild Rivers not just the best waterpark in California but the best waterpark in the USA!
An 18-acre water park in Irvine's Great Park. CDPC worked closely with the design team to create the overall theming, circulation, and landscape design. The waterpark features rides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a kiddie area, a picnic area with a shade structure, a cafeteria, day camp facilities, and administration buildings. Anticipated opening Summer 2022.
