Stop with the foolishness yes the Bronx is the Mecca of Hip Hop but all of NY was dressing like that back in the late 70s and the 80s. Im from Strong Island Ny 💪 the home of Rakim Public Enemy EPMD Dela Soul Freedie Foxx Biz Markie Grand Daddy IU Leaders of the New School Keith Murray K Solo and even on the ghetto suburbs of Long Island we were dressing like that And Queens like all parts of NY got it's influence from the Boogie Down Bronx when it came to Hio Hip but stop with the foolishness that all of Queens got it Style from the Bronx because as dope as these Hip Hop God father's like Double Trouble were Queens like Strong Island took Hip Hop to another level with all the Iconic acts they spit out In my estimation Queens and Long Island have spit out some of the most ionic acts during the Golden Era of Hip Hop . But we do owe the Bronx for this thing I grew up loving on Strong Island Ny 💪 called Hip Hop. But stop with the foolishness of comparing Double Trouble with the ground breaking ionic group Run DMC who are the Kings from Queens and got a Endorsment deal with Adidas and we're first rap video on MTV.

It's interesting you mention hip-hop outside of NYC in '82. Our pops passed a couple days after new years in '82 and so his/our family thought it would be a good idea to pitch in and fly us all from the south Bronx to east l.a. It was a different world! Our own family didn't know what to make of us. They were not hip-hop friendly. We went back in 86' and they loved us all of sudden.

I was in the Navy back then….I was stationed in Boston; this white dude on my ship( this dude is from Nebraska, like for real), who really wasn’t around black people growing up, ask me about learning about black culture……perfect timing!! Since this iconic movie was out, we decided to check out “Rocky Horror Picture Show “ and “Wild Style” in downtown Boston…..both movies were playing at the same theater….Boston,at that time, kind of hood-like, so a lot of poor white kids a came to see RHPS, and the poor black kids came to watch WS( it was obvious by the crowd)……. RHPS was shown only at midnight, so we saw that last……very weird stuff, and at 20 years old, being from NYC, I have seen worse….cool movie!! When he got to see WS, he was the only white guy in the theater!!! From start to finish, his eyes was glued to the screen, and was in shock on how New York City was in the late 70’s, early 80’s…….he asked hundreds of questions……I sincerely believe that after seeing WS, he was a different person……some movies have an impact on a person’s life: for my friend from Nebraska, he thought differently about what he thought about black culture, hip-hop and our NYC way of life……….for me, IT WAS ABOUT BEING PROUD OF BEING FROM NEW YORK CITY!!!!! That is my story and I am sticking to it……..
