Join us on an exciting journey as we explore Pioche, Nevada, a historic Wild West Ghost mining town with a colorful past! Nestled in Lincoln County, near the Utah border, Pioche was established in the 1860s after the discovery of silver. It quickly grew into one of Nevada's most significant and notorious mining towns.
During its boom in the 1870s, Pioche was known for its wealth and lawlessness. The town's silver mines produced vast amounts of ore, attracting miners and fortune seekers from far and wide. With more people killed in gunfights and disputes than from natural causes, Pioche earned a reputation for its violent history, which is evident at the infamous Boot Hill Cemetery.
In our video, we'll visit famous landmarks like the Million Dollar Courthouse, known for its high construction costs and financial scandals, and the Pioche Aerial Tramway, a relic of the town's mining past. We'll also explore preserved buildings and sites that offer a glimpse into Pioche's boomtown days.
Although Pioche's population has dwindled since its peak, the town retains its historic charm and is a must-visit for history buffs and adventure seekers. Join us as we uncover the rich history and scenic beauty of Pioche, Nevada, and dive into the tales of mining wealth, lawlessness, and resilience that define this unique town. Don't miss out on this fascinating exploration!

What a fascinating town this is. The history is amazing. I can't think of a place that so obviously has the past, coexisting with the present... I agree. There should be a way to incorporate the past into their present. I saw cars, and a few obviously open buildings, but no signs of children, or action. I would love to go there. Their past is something else. Thank you, Andrea and Steven, for taking us along. 🏚🏡👏🏻☀️👏🏻

People still live there. There’s a few shops cafes and bars but it was so cold when we filmed. I think people thought we were nutty filming in that weather

6 cents per ton for processing was a hefty fee back then. By the way all those "tailings" you see all over the mountain are not tailings. They are waste rock mounds. Tailings is what is left after processing the ore. All those piles are waste rock from driving the tunnels. At some point in time, it became illegal for anyone to ride in the carts or buckets on the trams due to people falling out. I rode a ski lift once and don't ever want to do it again. LOL

@@larryhullinger4141 All of the piles that are outside of adits are waste rock. The tailings happen when milling. In most cases, the milling doesn't happen right in front of the adit. Cept for a few mines like the Gem mine in Jail Canyon.

Since that area was blocked off. I wonder if someone new bought it. Many of the mines, were not played out. They just quit, when the profits were too low. Silvers is worth much more now.

Talk about the Pillsbury dough gal. Yee-Haa! I almost bought the "oldest casino in NV" there. I/we had so much fun exploring around there. Just a blast. Talk about being in my element. Yowzer! A little secret, we miners, even us retired ones, can still make the bedrock. Yee-Haa! Not sure but I always wondered if there isn't a lodge up on Davis Mtn. There.😊 left you another tip. Be cool. Luv ya both.

You two were lucky enough to be there before tourist season hit - that place turns into a mad house during the summer! Several of the mine claims are still active & working. Been through there countless times, but have only had the chance to drive through the town proper a couple of times - since the old highway isn't too friendly towards modern trucks... Would love to see the mill, but yes, its been fenced off for as long as I can remember: am amazed the tram hasn't been vandalized over the years.
