“We were unbelievably fortunate enough to have seen a wildebeest kill at Ngotso damn that same afternoon at 12:30. We decided to head back there that afternoon to see what was left of the carcass when we came across these 2 female lions stalking this wildebeest so of course we decided to wait right there. To our utmost delight this awesome sighting started to play out right in front of us.”
“After waiting for an hour, the wildebeest took a dust bath and this is when all hell broke loose and the females gave chase. 1, 2, 3 and they were on the wildebeest. The wildebeest fought back and managed to hook one of its horns into the leg of one of the lionesses.”
“This must have been extremely painful for the lion, as it was for quite a few moments that she was hooked onto the wildebeest. I am happy the wildebeest got away as lions cannot always win.”
“To tell the truth I had mixed emotions about the whole ordeal. This sighting is very scarce as lions usually kill wildebeest when they catch up to them.
My advice to people in the same situation is to stay put and wait for the end. At some point it seemed the lions gave up cause this wildebeest kept walking away until it took a dust bath. What an incredible day!”

This is very extra-ordinary, I have honesly never seen a Wildebeest survive after already having been brought to the ground by not only 1 but 2 lions. That's the strongest and most resilient Wildebeest I've ever seen, and the lions just seemed quite perplexed in the end, like they accepted defeat.

Lions have superior defence (mane) and tigers have superior attack (more muscular, larger, and almost twice as strong bite)... probably cancel each other out. In the wild though if their territory overlap (it did in the past), yes lion win because they hunt in packs.

And no, wild dogs don't easily kill wildebeest, they rarely ever succeed killing adult wildebeest, they mostly target smaller antelopes. It's stupid to think their legs are weak just because they're thin and narrow, they support their 270kg bodies just fine and can kick and stomp their enemies with them.

The video you showed was of a pregnant female, the hyena realized it's weakness and took advantage of it. A wildebeest can easily stomp a wild dog to death. There’s a lioness from the Nkuhuma pride who sustained a really deep wound on her left hindleg, a horrible cut much worse than what the wilderbeast did in this video and it all healed by itself.

You dontt know what you're talking about, sport. A wildebeest, just like Bison, kicks a lion's (male or female, doesn't matter) ass a solid majority of the time - 8/10 - taking into account all variables. I'm talking one-on-one, not 2-3-4-5 lions vs one Wildebeest. A Hippo kicks a lion's ass, faster & more violently, than a Wildebeest 10/10. Rhinoceros typically beats a Lion. Elephants kick everybody's ass...period. Elephant is King of the Jungle - and HW Champ of the World.
