There's soo much anticipation leading up to a find when doing this with a dog. That level of anticipation is not there when riding a snow mobile looking for them or walking around without a dog.

Bro, I couldn't imagine going through that with Gracie. I couldn't imagine a lower feeling than that. You did a great job. Your actions helped save her life! No doubt she'll be sore for a while. But the alternative........ This experience will stay with you for a while. Unfortunate the situation happened, however, it will prepare you for what you will have to do to avoid this in the future. Keep up the wonderful work. Best of wishes for a speedy recovery for Gracie.

Lesser quality ones are great candidates for dog chews, big industry and a lot of sheds end up as chews. Nice paddles, whitetail sheds are popular for carving. I’m sure he sells a bunch of them, but probably keeps tons as well. You have to be pretty good/dedicated to make money shed hunting, but he clearly puts in the work.
@TheMaineWoods2 жыл бұрын
I sell them, it’s part of our income, I like to sell them for decorative uses but a lot of them become dog chews

You don't carry a firearm on your shed hunts? WE had one kill somebody in the southern Smokies not long ago. One tore in my house several years ago .We were sleeping and it came in a screened porch then into the garage up on the front porch and tried to come in the front door. I ran it off .It came back the next night got the bird feeders. .He began marking trees with claw marks .A few days later he came again. I have no use for bears. Most times they run ,but get a large bore and he can be trouble.

Way to go finding all the sheds. Thankfully Gracie is ok. You might want to carry a firearm for encounters like that. I realize the Bear is just protecting it's young but I'd rather have to explain to the Wardens why I shot a Bear than lose my dog.
