What an amazing video. The information being shared here is "spot-on". It would be great if more physicians (and climbers alike), genuinely learned and understood human physiology at altitude. Excellent job; thank you for sharing your expertise.

Would I need diamox hiking at 8-12k feet? I hiked in Colorado last year and immediately went to Leadville! 10k plus and felt like I was about to have a hear attack all night! Took ma a good 3-4 days to feel normal, my question is would that be something I can try if my doc prescribed it? I’ll be hiking in California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona next week. So I won’t be at high altitudes all the time! Only for maybe half the time.

I'd talk to a physician about your sleep problems. 5k is not high enough that it should cause this sort of problem, especially if you live at that altitude. As an example, I live at 5k and I start to experience these sorts of breathing problems above 13k.
