Wildfire Mitigation Alignment Webinar - February 12, 2024

On February 12, 2024, a webinar was held on how California’s investment on wildfire mitigation, statewide alignment, and how the insurance industry works together to align in a common goal of preparing communities for wildfire.
Hosted by the Rural Counties Representatives of California, League of California Cities, and the California State Association of Counties, presented by CAL FIRE. The webinar focused on informing and educating fire chiefs, city managers, county executives, and elected leaders.

PG&E is a major problem. CAL fire should change their 17:58 enforcement practices and codes and add the power to go after PG&E and require them to shut their power grid during red flag warnings. CAL Fire enforcement should be the one to DEMAND PG&E to shut the grid down. You mentioned utilities lines and human loss of life but no mention that PG&E has started almost 25 percent of the most destructive wildfires in California in the past 15 years killing more than 100 people and millions of acres of land. You are correct is not just one problem but PG&E is one of the largest problems and CAL fire currently has no enforcement powers over the negligence of PG&E. Requiring fire hardened homes is a minor problem compared to the dangers of PG&E.
