Using a basket or similar to allow the spores to fall and get spread around more as you're foraging sounds like a good practice. Another thing...as a conservation bio/ecology major, I would not take every one I found. I would maybe take 1 in 4, and if I wanted to find more giant ones in the future in a certain spot, I would leave the biggest ones so that their genetics aren't removed with my harvest. Humans exert certain pressures on organisms that change them. For example, hunters always want the biggest males with the biggest antlers. But when those individuals are killed, their genes are removed from the gene pool. Over time, the antlers in hunted populations get smaller because the males with smaller antlers had the survival advantage, made more offspring, and in a few generations, there aren't any males with huge antlers anymore. We have done the same to some populations of fish, and plants, and elephants, probably morels. It's very much like selective breeding, except we are inadvertently removing the traits we desire. When a few morels popped up in my friend's woodchips recently, we left all of them and the thought of 'seeding' certain wild places has crossed my mind as well.

Yes, we saw fresh tracks and scat and later heard of a sow and cubs in the area. I had 220 grains as a deterrent.

Down south people out them in onion sacks so the spores can fall out and help future production
