In an ideal animal habitat for predatory wading birds that are hunting to feed, a heron that eats bird babies born to aquatic birds is feeding on baby waterbirds. In this compilation of images, a heron is hunting, and it eats waterbird babies right through the aquatic birds' breeding seasons. The heron is actively eating the waterbird babies alongside ducks and other waterfowl in this water habitat. The herons are highly adapted birds that apply experience and instinct when feeding on baby birds, and their finely tuned attacks are an incredible example of what nature and evolution will create for an animal to survive in the wild natural world every day. The heron is a meat-eating predatory wading bird that attacks and feeds on other animals. They are carnivorous, top predators, and exceptional hunters of prey and animals that live and breed worldwide. Herons have an incredible instinct to attack and eat other animals. This feeding behavior has evolved over millions of years, enabling them to have an extensive menu of wild protein-rich food. The herons have a diverse meat diet, from hunting to eating other animals. They especially like to eat fish and various aquatic creatures that live in seawater and freshwater. The heron can be seen actively hunting and eating small mammals and baby birds throughout the cities and wildernesses, especially when they live and breed in the herons' natural habitats. The herons live and breed in almost every aquatic habitat close to water worldwide.

Mallards are relatively passive when it comes to defending their nests and chicks. If this Heron had tried this with Canadian Goose goslings it would most likely ended up very different. Canadian geese are very aggressive when it comes to defending their eggs and young. Interesting video though.

Geese in general are pretty protective of their nests and territory. Even taking on swans (which doesn't always end well.) But this Heron is smart, it knows this is easy prey that will feed it well. Hopefully the parents of these ducklings learn to hide their nests and offspring better, or find a territory with less predators

It's amazing altogether. Surprisingly birds who eat fish or bugs, etc will take opportunities of other food if it's available or easy to get. Like a chicken for example, most people don't realize they'll eat not only their seed or bugs, but also mice, smaller snakes, young birds or anything practically available for them. Birds are so smart. It really is incredible. It's unfortunate the parent ducks couldn't protect their offspring. Hopefully it's a lesson learned for any surviving ducklings or future broods. It's not exactly like they can fight the heron; who cam easily kill them.

I live on the lake and there's a small marsh to the side with many ducks and herons. I've never seen this before. I thought the herons just ate fish and frogs. I've seen alot of ducks with missing legs assumed it was snapping turtles guess it was probably these stone cold killers. My wife won't be so excited to see the herons role in after i show her this video lol.

many people may blame the heron, but we need to know that chickens we eat are just around 40 day old. I know ducklings are cute but herons have to feed themselves and their babies. and lots of predators such as cats, foxes, hawks, cranes and snakes also eat ducklings occasionally. It's just circle of life.

I'm glad you got to appreciate them! It's always great to hear someone who used to hold them in contempt, now respects or at least understands them better. : ) They truly are magnificent animals. Very smart and as you said, patient creatures. Did you know Herons will feed fish to get them to come? They've been recorded to regurgitate a small bit of fish in water, ponds, etc to attract fish. Since many many fish eat other fish- They'll come swimming to the smell of supper only to be caught by the heron who paid a bit of its own meal to get a much bigger one. : )

ohh no... i can't join you. wild felines, many flying wild birds, wolves, snakes are hunting... I have never seen an animal species hunted so lowly. They are eating everything that goes into their mouth without limit. and many animals mistaking them for Pelicans ,there aren't running away. I give material and moral support to animal rights and protection associations and many non-governmental organizations in my country .but these are like a monsters. I hated them.
