"Nøkken" means "the nøkk" in Norwegian so if you say "the nøkken" it would mean "The the nøkk" 😄 It's nice to see him mentioned here though, as he's quite popular in folklore but often not well known!

That would be Odin, Thor and Freyr, interesting choice of judges, considering that Odin got his spear and bracelet, Freyr his ship and Thor got Mjolnor out of that contest, which would not have happened without Loki. So all mighty Thor wouldn’t have ever had his hammer if not for Loki’s trickery!

At no point in the sagas, stories or myths are the Jötunn actually said to be 'Giant' in appearance. This is nothing more than a translation. Reading and comparing the Eddas etc, it's more likely the Jötunn were the same as the gods. The word 'God' itself is a translation of one of Óðinns many names used by more modern religion, therefore, it's highly likely the Jötunn, the Aesir and the Vanier (which may just be another word for the Aesir the poet's used for rhyming purposes) are all just different 'Clans' of the same species; especially when their ancestors all link back to the same Jötunns.

Valkyries were actually part of the Huldufólk. I'm mentioning that because another channel that I won't mention here stipulates that Huldufólk were only male and because your knowledge of the Norse Mythology is substantial. 13:15 Interesting, I see it is where the Christians took the guardian angels from.

Have you considered doing a sort of "God of the week" type episode where you go into great details in a specific God? Like it would be cool if you could explain the contexts of each God and what they meant for the people who believed in them at the time. Otherwise they remain these tertiary characters that are kinda just cool to look at. Like if you could take one every once and a while and sort of break down their historical, context and their over arching symbolism I think that would be quite interesting. Granted prob a lot more work. People lose the meaning behind all these stories and the lessons these gods are supposed to provide. Granted they're left behind because new religions created better stories but still it would be interesting to see, like if a God was the harbinger of pestilence you could go over perhaps what they would do in times of plague and how they viewed the god malevolently or benevolently. etc. Just an idea :) I use your videos for ideas on trying to create my own literary myths for my book 😋
