You are in a Nypa Palm forest, one of the best in australia is off the wenlock river in Tentpole creek, simply stunning, and full of huge crocs. Loving the series hey, keep it up.
@WildReaches3 жыл бұрын
Wow really. Spent a lot of time in the Wenlock and camped at Tentpole a few times but didn’t know that. Is the palm forest near where tentpole runs into the Wenlock?
@perigrine463 жыл бұрын
@@WildReaches no, it’s a fair way upstream, where the water is brackish, and tent pole has the highest number of crocs per square km in Queensland. I used to take QPWS rangers and film crews up there for croc counts at night time, always heavily armed, and seriously nervous at all times. Saw many many big mud geckos in tent pole every time we went there. Awesome Nypa forest, feels like Jurassic park hey. Just waiting for a T Rex to step out of the scrub.

@@perigrine46 MATE, sounds like we need to cross paths. Hit me up on Instagram when you get a chance. We use to explore in there a bit back in the day and I was always sure there'd be a big fella in Ten Pole. We'd splash in the rapid section to cool off and then people would show up and just dive into the main hole!! even kids, it was hard to watch. Such an amazing place though

Wild Reaches I was lucky enough to grow up over on the Tiwi islands. When we would go and fish a specific area we would always love going up and having lunch in amongst them in the cool. Being a young fella I always wanted to catch fish lunch time or not I would throw a lure and it always blew me away with the lack of fish up around the palms.

Lol we saw so many crocs just after the sand bar .. good goldies on the rock bars and trev’s up at the junction Great history in the area around missions and attempts at agricultural pursuits Thanks again I don’t have much footage of the river mainly stills so keen for the next instalment
@WildReaches3 жыл бұрын
Thats cool to hear. I imagine there is alot of history surrounding this area as when you cross the river way upstream there is alot of land being used for agriculture and of course the sand mine further north. Wish we had the fishing better but with the cyclone out the front that we were un aware of and the deluge of flood waters pushing out I think the system just went quiet for a few days
