In the spring of 1905, a couple of down-and-out cowboys robbed a dice game in Winslow, Arizona. What followed was a literal pursuit to hell, a bloody gunfight, and an Old West Lazarus rising from the grave for one final sip of whiskey. #history #wildwest #western

That story digging up the robber, . . . Think I was about 5 or 6 when because my folks being duty bound to attend, I taken to an Irish wake but didn't understand what I was witnessing... Having been told not to go there, I ventured to see into the living room. There the late Ironworker was laid out in the coffin in their family living room. There were somber men standing all around the casket passing a whiskey bottle between them. Each time they would pass it over the casket in front of the deceased's face to ensure he was dead. Because they knew that if he was still alive they knew he'd never pass up a turn at the bottle and he would sit up to take his turn on the bottle.

Good story from my home state, that corner of northern AZ was as wild and wooly as you could get. Holbrook and Winslow had so many gunfights its impossible to keep track of them all
