Done more skylights than I can remember, as long as everything is down stream and sealant is in the proper places, they don't leak but condensation does occur, I changed the wrapping from drywall to durock. It takes the moisture better, major bummer about Lilly, you get a success story and it ends up like that, you know well gaving livestock is rough, rewarding but rough. Don't like the winter work but it looks like it's dry enough to continue closing up the roof, keep at it👍

You are absolutely rock stars. Keep us in your prayers please. I had a TIA November 12. Then on the 18th my brother had a seizure and he is now in a nursing home. On the same day we had to put our mother in the hospital because of mobility. She passed away on Dec 12 after being in Hospice for 2 weeks.

Like you, we feed our pigs all natural, almost free range. We have Red Wattle pigs. Our Belted Galloway cattle are the same, grass fed until finished. The chickens eat the same as the pigs. No soy, no antibiotics, no hormones. Our hay supply is going down. With drought this past year, I fed hay all year long. We might make it through winter, but it will be close. I hope you can get weed free, chemical free hay at a reasonable price.

I think you should have put the top metal piece for the skylight before you put the corrugated metal sheets up so the corrugated metal would overlap the top metal piece of the skylight.

I must say with all do respect, Erin keeps herself beautiful and in shape for Josh and it's impressive because she is a mother with 3 kids and she looks like a model. That's what you call taking care of yourself for her man (husband) you go Erin. And Josh stays in shape for her as well, he's not no pop belly dude, They are both hard working couple living the American Dream, that's a fact. Try a sand battery. Find the bigest clay pot you can. Fill it with sand. Put a hotplate under it. heat it slowly the first time to drive the water out of your sand. After that you can put a clay base over the top. The sand can get up tp 400 degrees. It heats the area around it for hours after the hotplate is turned off. Will work in your barn too if you surround it with mesh so nothing can sit on it.

We actually exchanged our skylights for the Velux solar powered, screened remote opening ones. It lets the warm air out of the room and lets the cool air in at night. It has a sensor that closes it automatically if it starts to rain. Worth every penny.

For our off grid solar building I installed a 18,000 btu 12 volt vented Suberban propane heater. Our well pressure tank is also housed under the same roof

Been with you from the start, and you were the inspiration for the wife and I to do this same thing in our 60's. We were going to look for land in WV, but ended up getting a great deal on a nice property close to the wife's relatives in Ottawa. We FINALLY finished up our house after two long years of work, so we KNOW what it's actually like when not on camera. (I edit out all my cussin' and fussin.) Keep it up and get it done. Then TRY to relax if ya can, even if only for a moment.

I’ve been a builder/carpenter in Wisconsin for 45 yrs the one I’ve learnt is that if you cut holes in roof down the road you’ll regret doing it. Leaks, moisture damage and such will happen!
