The first stop in wildwood used to be Luigis for a cheese steak hoagie, the next day would be Kelly's for a roast beef sandwich, then for dinner the Jones boys for their all you can eat specials, that was a long time ago in the seventies and eighties. The last time I was to wildwood I didn't recognize the place, all the art deco motels were gone and it lost that nostalgic feeling, for me anyway, I haven't been back in over ten years and probably won't be, I don't even go to AC anymore.

Just found this. My parents honeymooned in Wildwood and we went there every summer as a kid and teen in the 60s and 70s. Marlane Motel...? Brittany? And there was a restaurant near or on the boardwalk where people lined up for an hour+ for dinner. Basic family restaurant w excellent food. I can't recall the name. Thanks for the memories! I'm Ukrainian also. 2nd generation American. My best wishes to your wife and all families in Ukraine. I'm new to Vegas and was surprised to learn that there is a large Ukrainian population here. Many of the performers, acrobats, singers, dancers, are Ukrainian (and Russian). Slava Ukraini! 💛🇺🇦💙

I’m so glad they’re keeping the Capri as a motel! I’ve said in the past, turning everything into condos would be a mistake. A lot of the charm of Wildwood is the unique motels! I hope more people will consider renovating these old motels, and/or maintain the old motel style for new builds.

We have been going to Wildwood Crest on vacation for the past 25 yrs, although change is necessary it makes me sad to see how much Wildwood is changing. It’s becoming another beach town and losing that nostalgic feeling we loved. All this building talking place makes it so hard for average people like us to vacation here any more due to the raise in rental pricing. We had even thought about possible buying a small vacation home but can no longer afford it.
@ronyeahright95362 жыл бұрын
wildwood is still very affordable i think; despite all of the new construction he is showing, there are still tons of places just as they were 20,30 or more years ago. We stayed at the Bel Air Motel last summer; typical wildwood motel, decent accomodations....very close to beach, still every affordable. there are tons of motels still around just like that one. By the way, I think Wildwood still has a nostalgic feeling. When I used to go as a kid 35, 40 years ago, it was much more crowded than it is now. You could barely move on the boardwalk at night, it was so crowded. Now, on a typical summer night, some parts of the boardwalk are crowded, but not like it used to be when i was a kid.

When I was a child we had a home on 16th St. There was so much sand on the beach there we had to wear our sneakers to cross the hot sand to get to the hard pack and the waterline. It is so hard for me to see no sand there now. I was there last summer and was absolutely shocked by the beach change.

@@nickcef Avalon NJ has a jetty, it even has a lighthouse: "8th Street Jetty Lighthouse" and looks like it is at the tip of a seawall at the north end of the island, similar to north wildwoods. if the sea wall in north wood had been extended out into a jetty similar to Avalon's, perhaps there wouldn't be as much beach erosion. there are also what appears to be very short jetties in Cape May NJ beach. in any case, besides beach erosion plaguing some shore communities, the sea levels are also rising at an alarming rate

ive been going to wildwood my entire life, and not a single time have i encountered drunk people. where are you hanging out?? Are you sure you weren't in seaside?
@sheilasrock94242 жыл бұрын
@@ronyeahright9536 Hi Ron. We encountered drunken young adults at the Gateway Arcade. We were surrounded by people drinking on the beach at WWC and the poolside was a rowdy group of people getting drunk. Kids were around that behavior and language. One time a woman had a opaque coke cup filled with a mix drink. She spilled it at Fascination. She kicked it with her foot. She had 2 kids with her. A guy was with her too but he seemed ok. One time at Montego Bay there were kids having a birthday party in the indoor/playground area. Four women were drinking. One lady stepped in the hot tub and grabbed my friends shoulder to keep from falling. She didn't spill her drink. They were in their 60's and the cussing was awful. Kids were everywhere. I left, I couldn't handle people being drunk and swearing. Coming off the boardwalk and going to our car a bunch of teens were smoking pot and swearing at us as we walked past. I love WW. These public displays of poor behavior is awful to be around. There should never be alcohol on the boardwalk or beach. People don't know when to stop once they start. When I was growing up it was that way.If you want to drink you had to get off theBW to do do.. I go on off season now to avoid these people. I can't avoid it altogether unless I stay home. I like a family friendly environment and many places are incorporating booze in their establishments where at one time did not have a liquor license. I travel to WW alot. I'll be going at the end of this month. It will be a short visit but I'll be there. So you are very lucky you have not encountered these drunks. When their behavior interferes with our vacation I get upset. Not everyone wants to drink, smoke or swear.
@ronyeahright95362 жыл бұрын
@@sheilasrock9424 that is a shame you experienced all of that. Again, I just never have; nothing comes to mind. By the way, have you heard anything about WW going to paid beach badges?? I heard that some time ago, and while I know it would be a good source of income for the town, I think it would be a shame if they did that.
@sheilasrock94242 жыл бұрын
@@ronyeahright9536 Hi Ron. At this time nothing is definite. I am not in favor of beach tags. I think if they do move ahead with tags it will be in NWW and WW, not the crest...YET. Many smokers and drinkers are leaving cans, butts and paper products that trash the beach so they may need to hire people to clean up after these pigs, hence, beach tags to help pay their salary. I think those people pigs should be held accountable and fined but there is limited law enforcement on the beach. As bad as this sounds they are hoping to discourage beach goers that come for the day and bring their own food. The town can only get paid parking from the daytrippers. It's not simple as it use to be. Careless and reckless people are ruining it for others. Now that pot is legal we will be smelling that. People won't obey the law and it will get worse and worse. The off season works best for my family. It's more affordable and less people to ruin our stay.
@ronyeahright95362 жыл бұрын
@@sheilasrock9424 yeah i agree with most of what you say. I hope they don't do the beach tags tho; WW beach has been free access since I was a kid. Definitely fine the litter bugs tho. They should start an anti littering campaign, and hire a few roving officials handing out $150 fines to literbugs; that will more than pay their salaries, and get the message across. Enjoy your summer!
