Thank you for the history Joey, very interesting. I love that Heather road has history to it,one of the reasons I named my daughter Heather is that I was pregnant on a walk and seeing the sign was confirming to me that If I had a girl that would be her name and it fits her personality and she loves Wildwood.

My folks had a small home on Heather Road in the fifties and early sixties. Lots of fond memories when I was young. I see a comment from donnafromnyc. My family also knew the Von Savages and my older cousin was a very caring friend and protector of their son. Sadly he died young but I got to know him pretty well. R I P Barry. Thanks again for the history Joey.

Not only a dry town but no Wawa's down near 80 th Street. We usually go down to the nice El Coronado hotel on Mothers day weekend. Year before pandemic took me halve a hour to find a place open to get a lousy hoagie. All but this dump & most hotels were not open yet for the season. Crest is so much cleaner & quieter then Wildwood. Better off with no alcohol sales. Helps keep drunk noisy teenagers away.

my family, we spent our summer's at the Monterey Motel our second family. Love seeing these videos Joey, I remember Dimond Beach when they built it , back then nothing made it work, nice to see they got it going. I loved Wildwood Crest the history and the memories.

Great video Joey. My parents bought our house in the Crest in 1948 when I was 2. There wasn't much there when I was younger. I remember Billy's dock had a restaurant and he did the cooking. The food was pretty good. I was told that Billy could have kept his license except for something he did. I don't remember what that was. I also remember when they added the streets below Hollywood.

Just for everyone...see Joey's video on the Oceanview Motel and support him in saving the historic lobby! Remember that the lobby building faces out onto Sunset Park and is not only unique now, but very much part of the history of the Crest.

What would be really cool is a story on the origin of street names. NWW is numbered, WW has names (that relate to the town's history), and WWC has series names--cities, states, flowers, and nautical (Stanton and Farragut).

I say keep the alcohol out of the Crest!! It makes the area very calm, peaceful, and more family friendly. When I tell people who have never been to Wildwood that the crest is a dry town, they are amazed and go there on vacation with their wife and kids. There are plenty of people who look for places like the crest to vacation in.

My family has been vacationing in the Crest since 1958, with two breaks. My mom was friendly with the Von Savages who owned the Beach Waves in the early 1960s to about 1970 and the whole POV of most of the locals was to keep the town family oriented without the hassles of bars and the extra cost of policing. Places like Duffy's on the Lake packed them in without alcohol. Wildwood and North Wildwood were and are more party places...the Crest was and is family-oriented, quiet and residential. I also think liquor in the Crest would pull down business in Wildwood and their stores and restaurants, just a short distance away. Not to put down either, but there's a difference. I do hope the Crest stays dry--you can always bring your own!

Unfortunately the Bayview really slid in its last years and the restaurant that replaced it never took off. Great spot too...now replaced by houses which is more typical for that area.

How did wildwood end up on the worst city’s in NJ … how is that possible what happened.. I haven’t been since my senior prom in 2001 and would like to go but when AC is ranked 9th worst in NJ AND WILDWOOD IS RANKED 4th that’s pretty scary.
