I was a little dude, running around my parents hotel. (Coral reef) My little bro came along 2 years later. This is good stuff here. Wildwood is forever in my heart and soul. ❤️👍✌️

Can remember Wildwood back in the fabulous 1960's. Hunts pier was the best place for rides, Sams had two small pizza shops while Mack's had 4 locations on the boardwalk. We used to get the weekday lunch special at Nate's hot dogs Think it was 4 or maybe 5 hot dogs for $1. Was no Curley French fries back then. Tram car, slice of Pizza,& waffle & ice cream only cost 25¢ each. Good old days.

Mack's Pizza was 20 or 25 cents a slice... I remember Paul's French Fry's at Schellinger and the boardwalk. The heaping cup would be topped off with a large toothpick shoved in to try to hold them from spilling out.

No curly fries, but there was Paul's french fries at Schellenger avenue... The cup would be overflowing and he put a toothpick in the middle to hold the fries from falling out. Frankly I like Paul's a lot better than curly... Curly's are too thick.

Great video Joey! I was a child thru the 60's, and it was great to see and remember the boardwalk and rides from back then. Keep up the great work!

Great to see the Sightseer without any advertising. I remember Burk's two hotdogs for .25 cents. The trick shop was one of my favorite places. The caterpillar ride would blow air up at you after the top closed. Loved the bumper cars. The boardwalk was a great lace in the 60's. Favorite place was hanging out at the Himalaya ride and listening to Rock and Roll. Just missing the Wild Mouse and the Hell Hole.

The crowds that gathered at the Himalaya ride made for a real groovy scene. with the hits of the day blasting out over the screams of the riders! 'I Can't Help Myself' by the Four Tops is one song I specifically remember being played.

Definitely a couple years' worth of footage! The pair of priests in full Roman cassocks, the white shirts on men, the sun dresses, what a time capsule. I remember riding the "ski lift" out to the edge of the beach and back. Very nostalgic! Thanks, Joey!

I started at the boardwalk a bit later than this in the 70's, but many of the signs were still there. I still remember the "Wipe Out" slide, Macks pizza, Hot Spot, etc. The Kohr Brothers in the beginning of the video is still in the same location. I think to the right was the Dracula's castle location. I also took note of around the 2:40 mark showing the beach way out in what looks like North Wildwood...and how it isn't even there anymore.

Man, THAT brought some fond memories. Used to go there when i was young (born in 56) There seemed to be more cool rides and stuff back then ! And the ocean ! Amazing, it used to be under some of the amusement piers and even the boardwalk in some spots . Now look at it ! Went there in the 70's too when i was "drinking age" ! Great bars and people there and the boardwalk was still fun ! Then though, it took quite the hike to get to the water over scorching sand ! Great memories, thanks ! Love your channel !

Thanks for the memories of what used to be. The favorite rides and shops that slowly disappeared, the way people used to dress up to go out in public, and the general civility of public life in general.

My dad, who died in 1991, had been going to Wildwood since the 40s. He swore by Taylor Pork Roll and Nate’s Hot Dogs. I know Nate’s burned down (70s? 80s?). The Taylor Pork Roll was there when I was little but closed soon after.

Those were the days my friend. That was great Joey! So many memories & great rides. The Golden Nugget, Scrambler, Keystone Kops, Flying Tiger, Caterpillar, The Flyer, Whip, Trabant, Paratroopers, Himalaya, Wacky Shack. We always thought our shoes would fall off into the ocean on the Sky Ride. Loved all of them. The beach in North Wildwood was huge!

Great! Interesting content, Joey. Some of it looks like it could be as far back as the early 60s but the Wipe Out footage with other rides with it on then Morey's Pier would have to be the early 70s.

Everyone was dressed so nice. I wish it was still like that. I was on the boardwalk a few days ago and was absolutely disgusted with some of the stores displays. I know they have been nasty for years but this was over the top. How can you advertise a family friendly atmosphere but have “clothing” stores that you can’t walk your children past?! It’s so sad. No self respect at all anymore

In the shots of the rides and boardwalk at night, right next to the sign that says "rollercoaster and old mill" is the 1917 antique Carousel. The Nickels family gutted the Carousel, the Jackrabbit (rollercoaster) and used the old mill boat ride to construct a dungeon boat ride under the famous Castle Dracula on Nickels Midway Pier next to the Khor Bros. The castle burned to the ground in 2002 due to two teenagers using torches and aerosol cans to light up the castle

Hey Joey, Not sure you got the dating on this video correct. Using the movie titles on the marquees as a way to date the movie... John Paul Jones, released June 15th, 1959 A Hole in the Head, released July 16th, 1959. North by Northwest Hitchcock version released 1959.. So from this it seems that this is a movie of Wildwood from summer 1959. Since it's highly unlikely all three of these movies released in 1959 would still be playing in first run theaters in 1966. Keep up the good work.

The Jackrabbit roller coaster (later the Sceam Machine), and the old mill went through several iterations before becoming the Dungeon Boat Ride under Dracula's Castle. All to the west of Marine Pier across the boardwalk.

Since the movie "A Hole in the Head" premiered on July 15, 1959,if this is the same date it opened in that theater, the 38th day of the movie as seen on the film would have been around August 21, 1959.

So essentially nothing exchanged except the look. The strand is gone and the monorail but everything else remains the same. You still have Khor bros minigolf and the rides were obviously repurposed. The rides have a new look but i wish they kept some of the neon lights. I love how wildwood embraces its past but also moves forward into the future. I remember going on the Ski lift with my parents i was around 3 or 4. I remember seeing it sit with no riders and no longer operating. The strand started offering movies on the beach and there was a ride underneath. I really hope they dont change the sign when you first get onto the board walk because i love the quote it makes me cry. Everything is the same just with a different generation coming to vacation. Where the shooting guns were you had the shooting tennis balls. You can see the fascination sign above randys. Jewelry is still being sold and kids still ride bikes. I love that i can see these spots knowing what was there before and what now nods back to the past ❤

Boy/young guy at 5:50 with black shirt with white stripes looks like he could fit in any time period from 1950-present day. I'm guessing this film is from May 1967 at the earliest based on 80% of people seem to dress pretty casual and relative to nowadays minus the ugly tattoos and fat bellys :D

This past 4th of July 2024 was the first time in about 35 years that I have visited the Jersey shore...Point Pleasant Beach to be exact ......I have noticed 4 things that we didn't have as a kid growing up # 1 Tattoos on women # 2 Crazy hair colors on women such as pink and blue. # 3 Fake eyelashes on a lot of women ( young girls ) # 4 A lot of paste on finger and toe nails on the females Oh, and one last thing, almost all of the overweight people wore black. I guess that they think that black pants, and t shirts make them look a little less overweight.
