Wilhelm Roentgen Biography: How & Why X-rays were Discovered

Wilhelm Roentgen discovered x-rays in 1895, but who was he, why did he discover x-rays and how did a dirty picture almost derail his career? Find out in this quick biography of a deeply earnest and hugely influential scientist.

I think this is really #39, even though it's labeled #29. I've watched every one from the beginning, and the series is fabulous. In the Russian language, a medical X-ray is still called a "Roentgen" to this day :)

So there are boundless Tesla conspiracy enthusiasts out there. Supposedly Tesla was experimenting with x-rays as early as 1894 but never really knew what they were. He himself said this in 1897 at the NY Academy of Sciences. His lab burned down in 1895 and he lost momentum on that particular work. He was dancing all around it (like many others) so he may have figured it out without the fire. He did take some cool pictures at some point.
