@@satominami6599 you need a combination of luck, skill and hard work… G2 just didn’t have the luck this year in terms of draw and meta. Lane swaps have been their Achilles heel. Maybe an off-season to focus on lane swaps and finding the ideal Jungle replacement for Yike is just enough for this team to make some serious noise… BrokenBlade’s improvement is the single reason I have legit hope for this team. Everybody is blaming G2 for letting down LEC but in reality LEC is a letdown for G2. Not taking chances of wins for the pride of becoming the best version of you and soft surrendering after giving higher tier teams the lead. Look at bottom tier LCK teams, they still beat Gen G occasionally, because they try, and so, challenge the best to be better. G2 gets a free first place pass year after year, its truly a sad system and mentality in the west

Even if they got 0-1 and 0-2 against HLE, BLG, and T1, all the fights were close and none of it were complete stomps. They just couldn’t find a way to use their leads to close out the game, somehow one or two of them always gets caught and G2 couldn’t bounce back afterwards. If only they got lucky enough to draw anyone but BLG in the eliminations, they’d have a higher chance qualifying to groups.

I would like to see this roster stick together more often. Expanding on IWD's point about the worsening quality of LEC and LCS teams, its not that G2 are a bad team compared to LPL and LCK. They're clearly competitive from the games we've all watched. The issue is the lack of competition they have in their home region. FNC, the 2nd best team (arguably), make so many macro mistakes that G2 can just bounce back even from an 8k gold deficit. G2 play the losing game like they're gonna win. Every team playing against G2 give up the losing game and play for fun or whatever. Its very clear that what's stopping G2 is their late game ability to make solid calls and close the game because they're not punished often enough in their home region to develop that. Genuine shame, considering none of the players are solely at fault (Mikyx inted but he's still the best support in LEC). I believe the dominant reason for the roster changes will be due to budget anyway (new rookie jungler incoming).
@Kuroma942 ай бұрын
Honestly, if you have seen the games between HLE/BLG and TES/T1, you can see how far western teams are off in skill level compared to eastern Teams. That being said, BrokenBlade and all the G2 members still showed an amazing performance this year at worlds, even though they faced all of those top eastern teams in Swiss stage. Thank you G2 for the amazing entertainment and BrokenBlade for his absolute insane Yasuo performance. It was a blast to watch.

They've had 2 years with the same roster. Switching Yike and Miky is not the end of the world. So long as they have BB and Caps the main playmaking stays strong. The other big problem G2 have is they think (perhaps not illogically) that they need to change the roster to have a chance to win Worlds. But they won every split of LEC and totally stomp the region. No amount of roster changes will improve the quality of competition in the LEC. Perhaps the best thing that G2 could do is to split the roster between FNC and G2 and then fight it out. At least they’d have some competition to grow.

Impossible to improve as a team when you’re in a one team region. It’s practically the same issue in NA. Both regions are not really competitive enough to create world class teams. If G2 moved to Korea, and became part of the LCK, I think they could win Worlds in one year.
@hihelloh2 ай бұрын
Problem with teams are they think they can win worlds in 1 year being together. If they don't they change up the whole team.
@andlol25582 ай бұрын
The problem is EU not G2. Europe have no team that can even reach close to the levels of G2, while LPL and LCK constantly have competitive teams against each other. If EU can't create another EU team to compete against G2 then maybe G2 should goto LCK or LPL for practices.
@xSkwintz2 ай бұрын
I think there's some merit in staying together if you're already so close to reaching the goal you want to be at. I would say at least give it one more year.... last year was a fluke and this year, you guys proved that you absolutely can compete with the best, just need to work on closing out games. Everything else is immaculate and it would be very painful as a fan to see you guys get to close and to give it up right before making it. At least give it one more year.

BB is completely wrong in his attitude. Losing a close series against 3 of the best teams in the worlds makes it not sader. They should be proud of bringing such a great challenge to the best teams in the world. The real takeaway is to stand up again and come back even stronger next year. Now that you see how close you have been, a little more effort and training next year and you might get that last 10% that you need to win against the hardest opponents.
