I got plantar fasciitis from a fall and had tarsal tunnel injury with nerve pain in the ankle as well. Had to wear the night splint, but could never fall asleep with it on-found it uncomfortable, especially as flexed as the doctor wanted. So I would sleep the first part of the night without it, then wake up and put it on loosely, not flat footed, just a slight stretch until morning. So I was wearing it a couple of hours, and that helped. I just made sure to do the stretches first thing in the morning before I put my weight on that foot. Thankfully my foot healed. Hope that helps someone.

A similar contraption that was not so bulky completely healed mine in 3 days. Without it it used to take 2 or 3 months. Bought mine from Footsmart. Slightly uncomfortable but not bad at all. I put up with very mild discomfort for a few days and then gone, well worth mild inconvenience.

I started using the Walgreen Foot Support Overnight boot. I was using the exercises during the day for 3-4 days, and it helped a little. But after using the boot, I could put pressure on my foot the morning after the night using the boot. I’ve been using it for 4 days and it just keeps getting better. I can walk around with hardly any pain at all. Personally for me, this boot totally works.

I bought one several days ago based on your comment. I wore it for 3 nights and was fine every morning. I left it off for 2 nights and was still fine. I'm going to keep doing this, more or less depending on how I feel . I owe you a huge debt of gratitude for your comment. Without it, I'd be in a much worse place than where I am now. Thank you.

I have bilateral plantar fasciitis. When I finally found a doctor who was aware of the condition, I was in a great amount of pain. I was in the Canadian Forces, so my treatment options were limited to military physicians. We tried the physio, stretching before standing, tennis balls, toe walking on a towel, all to no effect. Then we tried cortisone injections. They only worked for a maximum of six months, so after 3 or 4 shots, we gave those up. I then tried the boots, and I could not sleep with them AT ALL. I have since done orthotics and foot taping. X-rays showed that I have bilateral heel spurs and surgery was not an option. The only thing that I have ever found to help is never going barefoot inside or outside, and only buying and wearing shoes that are well supported through the arches and have a soft and cushioned sole. Otherwise I have learned to live with the pain (which is much improved now) in addition to fibromyalgia pain.

I'll tell you why I like the compression socks. I've been having problems with my left foot specifically, and believe it to be plantar fasciitis, I've taken advise from several of your videos asking with others. My recovery is going like this: My first attempt to relieve pain was using doc scholls plantar fasciitis inserts with ascics gel venture 7 shoes. I got two new pair which I swap daily to help the inserts last, and use a third pair exclusively around the house. This was helping, but then I started to use the compression socks in conjunction with the shoes, this seemed to be the time I experienced the most meaningful recovery, it's hard to get that recovery when your on concrete for 10 hours a day. I recently got a stretching strap, which I'm sure is helping some, but just got the night splint. I have yet to sleep with it on, however, learning the right adjustment to keep my toes from falling asleep will take some time. I intend on figuring out a wedge for the toes, that's for sure. Thanks Bob and Brad, your a couple of swell swimmers!

I’ve been using a posterior splint for 2 years and have been finding that it over-flexes to a point where my knees are sore in the AM. I have recently been wearing compression socks (CVS brand) and find I am getting results without knee pain. I also do stretches with an exercise band before getting out of bed for the day. Obviously everyone may get results with different modalities, but hearing from others who have success gives us all ideas on ways to obtain relief and healing.

I use a product made by Thermoskin and I just love it. Light weight and easy to use. I think I could best describe it as a sort of slipper with an adjustable ankle band (via velcro---so easy) and then there is a an adjustable strap (via velcro again so super easy)...this strap goes from the top of the ankle band to velcro on the toes and pulls you toes up so the plantar fascia gets stretched--- very gently too. It really works for me.

What you do is get a shoe insert and cut a hole in it where the sore point is, this allows some space so the pain stops. After several weeks it is healed by not being irritated, works every time.

The splint helped me it took a bit getting used to but it really helped heal. I did switch to the night sock WITH added inserts that took the pressure off my toes from the strap.

I use one similar to the one Bob was wearing for my posterior calcaneal tear (back of heel where the achilles tendon attaches) and it seems to help. I need to wear it more consistently. It definitely makes getting out of bed less painful! But gosh I wish it would heal soon! I can barely run or even walk properly some days! Thank you for doing this video! Perfect timing!

Forgot to mention I ice my foot first then wait 5 minutes, then soak my foot in hot water with epson salts and a splash of vinegar. I use an old mop bucket to soak, I wish I had a hot tub. A bath also works, but I don't like doing that everyday.

I bought one from Walgreens based on a comment below. It's fabric, velcro, and a plastic splint. I wore it for just 3 nights and felt much better in the morning. I decided to experiment and left it off for 2 nights and no recurrence of the pain in the morning. I'm sure this is a bit unusual and not a common result. I will start wearing it again at night, perhaps alternating 3 nights off and 3 nights on and see how I progress.

I have used a posterior boot for two years and have been through two rounds of PT with no permanent results. Recently stopped wearing the boot because it seemed to cause ankle pain as a result of the sleeping position the boot forced me in to. I'm not seeing any difference in the PF pain now that I have stopped wearing the boot. I found the compression socks to be comfortable as long as I scootched them back away from the widest part of my feet. If not, the socks compress the sides of my feet and ultimately feel as if I'm wearing too-tight shoes. I stumbled across your program and will now start at the beginning to follow the program.

I've been getting acupuncture for my plantar fasciitis. It has improved it, but even after around 10 sessions it only does so much. When I told the acupuncturist I got the compression sock, he said that should really help and that I should wear it at all times EXCEPT for sleeping. I was considering a night splint for while I'm sleeping, but it doesn't look here like Bob & Brad think they're that effective.
