I have a weighted blanket. Best gift I've ever received! I have fibromyalgia, ptsd, anxiety, and I'm healing from two herniated discs in my lumbar which caused huge sciatic and nerve issues (not to mention massive fibro problems). I bought a very expensive mattress that helped a bit, I've been through yrs of physical therapy (and watch and participate with you guys) which has allowed me to gain strength and mobility. But the weighted blanket has helped me in ways nothing else could. As soon as I opened it, honestly still too weak to lift it, my mom laid it on me and I was immediately relaxed. I'm constantly on alert due to my ptsd and anxiety but the blanket switched off that part of my brain... As I laid there loud noises didn't scare me and bright lights didn't hurt my eyes. Going to bed, using the blanket, became easy again. My muscle spasms stopped. My skin no longer crawled nor itched due to nerve issues. My nightly pain slowly subsided. And I no longer woke every hour due to any negative issues. In 4 months I'm now pain free from the herniated discs and sciatica problems. At home I've incorporated my weighted blanket into my physical therapy and yoga routines. I still have struggles, the blanket isn't a cure-all, but it helps tremendously. I don't take pain meds... Something I was afraid of taking for the long haul. My anxiety at home is so much better. I live alone and I have gone through tough times. I was looking into getting a therapy pet... But now, as funny as it sounds, I have my blanket lol. Wish I could take it with me everywhere!

I'm 38, my mom and I saved up for mine and sometimes I go visit her with my blanket so she can take an extra long nap!! Much Love 💛💛💛

Awesome review! You two are hilarious! I found that I have to lay on my back if I use my weighted blanket, otherwise the weight makes my body hurt. I have fibromyalgia and moderate to severe anxiety. It really does help when I’m having an anxiety attack to lay down under this blanket and focus on my breathing. The anxiety seems to melt away much faster.

As a lifelong, diagnosed insomniac, using heavy blankets helps enormously. So does wearing socks to reduce overstimulation of my feet (a study recently showed this to be true). I liked the analogy of being swaddled, and I also like that lead thingy at my dentist's office.

I hadn’t heard of these until I hurt my shoulder helping my son out of bed in hospital. On count, that time, after only a week, he had 21 blankets on his bed. I kept asking Nsg if he had a “thermostat” problem. I read about making a heavy comforter for warmth and happily discovered this alternative. He needed the weight not the warmth. 2020 was a tough year for everyone. We especially miss his friends from special Olympics and group. These have gotten so cheap that We now have 4 weighted blankets - 1 for his bed, 1 for the daybed, 1 for me, and I have a spare weighted blanket for his (many) trips to Hospital. I keep it in a wheeled carry on suitcase with an infinity pillow for myself. The other patients can now have extra blankets and some poor staff member doesn’t have to haul the blankets to laundry when we’re discharged. 😉 Thank you for sharing this info. Our nights (and days) are much better.

I just have 20 to 30lbs of cats sleep on me. The kitties are better than a weighted blanket. They're soft. They generate heat. They purr and snuggle. Actually I used to sleep with a lot of heavy blankets so I get the appeal. Still, you can't go wrong with snuggly kitties (or dogs) 💚🐾

Hey Bob and Brad, they should make it in the shape of a person with a head and arms (like the Japanese make for pillows that young women buy) . If you have a head and arms and legs you could sleep with it Like someone hugging or cuddling you. And for singles or elderly who dobt get hugs it could feel comforting to have someone a arm around them or a feeling if being hugged
@MaryMary-wd5uv2 жыл бұрын
This is so true. I’m over 50 and have always had sleep issues and restless leg syndrome. I bought a 20 pound weighted blanket 6 months ago and every night now I sleep the sleep of 1,000 sleeping puppies! All joking aside, the weighted blanket feels so wonderful like I’m being hugged very gently. I finally look forward to going to sleep at night because I don’t toss and turn any longer. In fact I don’t even remember falling asleep anymore I get into bed and I wake up refreshed every morning and that’s it. I swear by weighted blankets now. I am too and I take one with me when I travel.

This is the worst thing about Vellux blankets: they don't snuggle and they don't drape. They are light as air and can blow off at the least provocation. My heavy Afghan does snuggle and gives me pleasant weight. And there are design holes in it so it can be used as a cool blanket.

As a surgeon, you need to do better research if you are going to promote a product. The most important thing to realize about purchasing a weighted blanket is that it done according to body weight. It is also a blanket that covers the top of the mattress with zero overhang on the edges. If only one spouse needs it, a Twin blanket would need to be purchased. The blanket can be purchased with or without the duvet cover. Blanket sets with the duvet cover are obviously more expensive, but the price depends upon weight and size. Amazon constantly has deals on both, with the best deals in February. I reccomend these blankets to my patients having a difficult time in rehab. This seems to calm them, make them sleep better and boost their mood a bit.
