Just because it’s 3 at the back, it does NOT mean that his tactics are primarily defensive. In fact, it’s a modern version of the style of football that Ferguson played. It’s defensively solid, but extremely progressive offensively. Source: From a Sporting CP fan

If we analyze Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Sporting in 2019, we can first observe that he changed the team’s formation to a back five, which significantly improved the team defensively. We also noticed that they conceded very few goals, meaning he started with the defensive process. Over the following seasons, he has made changes over time until reaching this season, where he maintained the defensive level but aims to score many goals and apply high pressure, something he did not do in his first season at Sporting. That said, I think he will approach Manchester United in the same way. First, he will seek to stabilize the squad and, over time, improve while maintaining the defensive process but with a focus on goals and pressure. PLEASE ANALYZE Sporting in the first season and the following seasons (despite finishing 4th in one of the seasons), he has been improving and rectifying certain aspects of the football played.

Ruben's playstyle/formation is not boring, sporting has been scoring a lot of goals, their routines are so dynamic.. I'm a sporting fan and I'm sad RA is leaving before the end of the season, but gonna start watching man utd again. You couldn't get a better coach than RA right now

@verbon47 that's why I mentioned their dynamics. The actual formation/players positioning changes according to the situation. The base formation it's a 343, but sometimes might look like 523 or 3421 and some other times they change into 4 at the back. It's very versatile. So it can't be fully described by the formation if that makes sense, but all the processes within the match

Ballon'dor should just be several. Forwards, midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers. You can never say how a forward is better then a GK, or the other way around. Then you can even talk about how a winger vs a central midfielders should be separate. Or a wing-back and a central defender.

Watch the games.) Question: if any of these managers came to United, would you be questioning their formations? Do you want a pretty formation or do you want to win games? #AskRio: I’ve been a Sporting and Man United fan since Ronaldo joined in 2003. I’ve followed Amorim’s career closely since he arrived at Sporting, and I’m confident he’ll be among the world’s top three managers in the next 2-3 years. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to get the best out of every player and instill a team-first mentality-when the club succeeds, players stand out naturally. I think he’ll work hard to bring out the best in players like Rasmus Højlund, but if that doesn’t align with the club’s goals, he might consider bringing in Viktor Gyökeres. Do you agree that investing 100M in Gyökeres would be a good move? Thanks
