Especially seeing as dispute being the defacto lead character of the early seasons, sam was boring af and never got any development. Will could have easily just slipped in and stayed as toby's deputy.

@@baileyjones4379 Well, I couldn't disagree any more with you about Sam, because he was awesome and Rob Lowe worked magic with the rest of the cast which Malina just didn't have. But I think there a very pointed writing change in the post Sorkin era where drama was squeezed out of putting all the main characters in conflict with one another, be it Leo against Jed, Will against Josh, Will against Toby, Toby against Josh, Donna against Josh etc... and Will was an unfortunate casualty of that because they used his character as a pawn to have these conflicts which mainly helped to serve the other characters, who were obviously more popular and more central to the show.

@@nikunjdixit1175 I liked rob lowe dont get me wrong, but sam always seemed very surface level. Cj, Toby, and especially Josh all had a lot of depth, and a lot of time put into development. Sam never had that. He always felt like a completely blank slate to me.

I do think in the final season, they tended to give him the funny and frivolous C story but he has some of the classic WW moments such as his speech to Donna about the Russian spy and fidelity to country. The character had a lot of optimism and heart compared to the more cynical characters like Toby and Josh. I don't think those characters would have been half as memorable if they didn't have a Sam to play off for those first 4 seasons.

I prefer to nominate CJ and Danny for the Most Adorable Dorky Couple Award (Sam and Mallory in second!), but then I'm biased by the fact it was really hard for me to watch the later seasons (I've only done it once and it all runs together in my mind). That said, seeing their interactions one after another like this does bring a smile to my face. I love the unlikeliest-of-couples trope, especially when it opens up aspects of a character's personality you wouldn't otherwise see.

Anyone can do that. It’s not difficult to waterboard someone, just put a towel over their face and pour some water over it, it’ll be best to tie them down first but that’s optional. It also isn’t difficult to cuddle, just wrap your arms around them.

Will gets some of the best lines to say in WW! .... in "Undecideds" he gets rooked into helping plan with the wedding of middle daughter Ellie - he ends up holding 2 wedding dresses given to him awkwardly - in the office of CJ the group conversation goes to why certain foods need to be avoided for the wedding (no one figured out that Ellie is pregnant) - CJ then says that an empire waist wedding dress could be better for Ellie to wear (hiding the pregnant tummy more- which Ellie didn't end up needing after all in the wedding episode...) - and poor befuddled Will just admits, "I have no idea what that means"... and the older war room intelligence family man in the room says to Will " Just do it for your country." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That is priceless. I want Will as my brother! He gets behind "Bingo Bob" (of all people) and gives it his all - yet doesn't quite get why no one else in the White house isn't behind the VP. Will is super smart - and check his card skills in "Evidence Not Seen" ! 😎 To me, Will is kinda like Donna - innocent - trusting - and fun to watch them grow in their characters. Kate and Will are like two wonderful oddballs - mini golf - just 'looking like we are talking together' - Kate to me, is kinda like a Josh... more dangerous and experienced with their love life's burns. Both don't really trust anyone, (Josh charms his way through better and covers himself with all of his energy) but would be great with a more 'calmer' personality match. ( Josh and Amy - yuck. ) Kate knows her stuff and has a lot of experience - but still seems a little young to hardly ever see Nancy McNally in the SIT room anymore... just MO. I like Kate's honesty. I fell in love with the show while season 1 was airing new, so I can't criticize your starting point. However, I think it started mid-season to replace a show that bombed too hard to continue for the rest of the season, so I think Season 1 of In Plain Sight is shorter than the rest.

I love Kate and Will! I remember that Ellie's wedding, and Ellie, were such a huge pain. First they wanted to get married practically immediately in the WH, which is insane, then she threw one fit after another about the food. So what if she was advised not to eat any fish or cheese, so no one else among the guests could have any? Then the dress! It wasn't any WH senior staffer's job to be doing Ellie's dress or anything else, let alone all of them. I would have pushed her out and told them to go to Reno. I got the impression that Will and Kate did not end up together at the very end, as I had hoped they would. Maybe too much damp weather!
