Sometimes bottled water won't freeze because it has no impurities for the ice crystals to begin forming. If you find one of these that have no dust for the water to begin crystallization. You can bring the water to below freezing and drop a tiny grain of sand in. The water will all freeze almost instantly. It is a cool effect.

so the real experiment would be to see if it freezes at 31 degrees F, and compared to other bottled waters, but you'd need a precision temp chamber to pull that off.... some of these anomalies reported in other videos could have occurred if the local Aquafina is super filtered and the local temperature was just barely freezing. impure waters could freeze while a purer one remain unfrozen.

Yeah, it freezes, but did you notice it wasn't frozen all the way through, whereas the others were completely frozen solid.

the lack of impurities allow the water to stay a liquid below freezing temperatures. groundwater has more impurities which allow ice to form easier. if you shake up the ice bottle it will freeze faster.

I took a bottle of Aquafina to work everyday for years Frozen. It freezes just like any other water. I am also from Maine where Poland Spring water comes from and that freezes as well so do the rest of the house on the table. Water freezes is a natural process.

I believed that any bottled water left in the cold weather would freeze. But now I am a believer!! I live in Michigan it is January 31and is 7 degrees outside, in my garage sits two bottles of Aquafina water been opened and not much left. I am here to say they are not frozen. So what’s up with that!! would post a picture of the water bottles but it won’t let me or I just don’t know how too

Hey Rick... try it again with most of the water poured out, then put the lid on very tight. I hear the pressure inside the bottle will not allow it to freeze. That may be why people are finding water bottles (almost empty) not frozen. I hear it also depends on if the cap is on tight or not. But a full bottle of water has no room in the bottle for pressure to rise. :)

My wife and I put an unopened bottle of aquafina in the freezer to see if there is any truth to this as well. After 24 hours it was still liquid.

It has to do with supercooling, if you research it will tell you because of pressure inconsistencies water can stay liquid even though the temp is below freezing. If you crack the lid or tap is on something is will freeze before your eyes. Check out van.physics.illinois.edu/qa/listing.php?id=1618

I think you should do this experiment a few more times and add some variables like first open to let air get to the water for a set amount of time. Then may be another test with the bottles half full or less. All of the videos I have seen have been open and less than half full.

chrisdavidd 2 bottles I have sitting in my garage have been opened 1just under half full and the other is less than that. It is January 31 2019 in Michigan, at 7:35am it was -12 and at 4:27pm it is 7 degrees. The water is not frozen!!

It would thaw from the outside in. Bubbles on the inside indicate it was never completely frozen.

Maybe it just freezes SLOWLY. Like it keeps it's chill/cold but it takes time for it to fully freeze. Maybe it's not the water it's self maybe it's just the bottle? If he put the water bottles at the same time he should have checked How far frozen they got just cause it looks and feel frozen on the outside but it doesn't really mean it fully froze. Take one bottle of AquaFina(unopened), another bottle of AquaFina(opened), another Bottle of AquaFina(replace the water with tap water or another type of water from another water bottle) and see how long it takes to freeze outside the house and inside the fridge and check how cold your freezer is. Maybe AquaFina freezes in a fridge because it's little a electric box that keeps food cold and that it builds up coldness unlike the out doors where the weather can change. Outside isn't a box that you can modify the temperature like a fridge and would freezing it AquaFina at the same temperatures, at the same time, in different environments(in a freezer and outside)really give you the same results? A freezer stays cold and the outside gets warm when the sun comes up/changes as the weather does. Or maybe there is some alcohol in the water? Alcohol beverages don't freeze. Alcohol doesn't freeze maybe AquaFina has a small amount of Alcohol in it that makes it freeze slowly in the fridge OR just barely freeze outside(depending on how cold it is)... OR maybe the people who drank AquaFina was drinking Alcohol before hand and the alcohol went into the water makes it slower to freeze. But what do I know about any of this! It is just my thoughts on this.

The problem isn't will it freeze, It's at what temperature will it freeze. If your freezer is running at 10-0 degrees it's going to freeze. Even rock salt loses it effectiveness at like 12-15 degrees. Now if it was 30 degrees, I bet it would be different results.

Aquafina has the lowest levels of fluoride(dasani being next to it), it is the purest on the table there and by far one of the safest commercial bottled waters to drink. Evian is great also. That thought being there, it's interesting to find out that aquafina bottle was less frozen the middle of it seemed liquid unlike the other bottles of water.

Dasani has a laxative in it.Also the pure water on the market is Aquafina because I used to sell wholehouse water systems and they do the test on the bottle waters and Aquafina passed the test.Aquafina is done with a machine of rainsoft and the whitehouse has a rainsoft system.Dasani is good but it does have a product of a laxative in it.

This experiment actually shows something else nobody has mentioned....... Which Water IS MOST pure? Dasani looks to have the clearest water after being froze. Which means it has the least amount of impurities in it. Deer park looks clear too and Aquafina looks quite clear too. Also, maybe it was colder where this experiment was done and maybe it takes a certain temp to freeze Aquafina versus the other brands.

As other stated before. Whether it freezes at 17 degrees F is not a good test. What is more valuable about figuring out the contents is at what temperature it freezes. The simple fact that it wasn't completely solid at the end of the video (3:50 mark) tells me it has a lowering freeze point than the other waters. Saying that the bubbles were due to it warming back up doesn't add up. The outside of the water bottle would thaw first because that's what's being exposed to the outside temperature. If anything your video proves it in fact does have a lower freeze point than the other samples.

I ave been buying Awuafina and Dasanti water for a long time because they had the best bottles. I hate those flimsy bottles that will crush trying to drink it. I don't think I'm going to buy Awuafina any more because they have the same flimsy bottles and most of them won't even stand up. They keep falling over. Dasanti still has the bottles I like so I will keep buying just Dasanti. Thanks for not giving me the choice any more.

My husband just found a bottle of aquafina water and he measured the temperature with an infrared heat gun. The temperature was 14ﾟF of the bottle and the water had been there for a couple of days and never froze.
