Will ARK 2 live up to the hype?

They've already confirmed that its still going to be an open world survival game like normal, they will most likely do the same thing with the cutscenes at the end of each story boss.

@@LuXLuvsU That would be an interesting dynamic to see. A split style campaign. I honestly don’t think that’s what they will do tho, it’ll most likely just be all our custom character.

I honestly liked their maps and the dinosaurs, kinda. I mean, they should've been modeled much more realistic than they were, but other than that, I liked it. The only thing I didn't like is that it was way too futuristic and less survival-y than it should. Also, I didn't like their building mechanics. You can't craft a wall in a bench in real life. You should be able to lay pieces of materials nearby where you want the piece to be done and then it will build it, after you made a scheme of what you want... using tree branches and stones for tools and then upgrading to dinosaur spikes and plates and then iron tools, but weapons made out of metal made it way too unrealistic. It takes a bunch of machines to create molds and furnaces and whatnot to make a gun, yet you could craft it inside of a silly workstation like it was nothing. We need more building options as well... sticks and leaves, clay water and stones, clay bricks, etc. It needs to be a process to be able to have a shelter, not "straight to metal walls in 10 minutes". You need to be able to shape the metal wall with tools and molds and whatnot...

Wow! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment this. True, one can hope they can add more realistic crafting aspects to Ark 2! And yeah the addition of Tek definitely did take it in a different direction from JUST a survival game with dinosaurs. (became a survival game with dinosaurs and buggy exploits lol). I feel Ark 2 should go with their idea of an expansion of materials and item to craft with, but not make it so realistic it distracts us from the fact it’s a video game. I appreciate when a dev takes the time to put elbow grease into making certain aspects of a game more realistic; just not TOO realistic. Again thank you for dropping this comment, mate!

Honestly we need a live action R rated TV show of Ark but obviously playing hardcore mode where they only get 1 life lmao. Also having main characters die and we always need Ark jump scares. But with all the dinosaurs and everything else Ark has, they would need a massive starting budget for it which just makes it very unlikely :(

That would be interesting to see. and tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix attempted to adapt something like an ark show based on the game at some point.

I see ARK 2 as, to an extent, a mix of ARK, ATLAS and Conan. Will need to wait for a "proper" look to see if this guess is correct or not, but ARK has the base game, ATLAS has a better learning system (grouping items together in a single unlock), and Conan brings combat and general movement

Yeah. A gameplay trailer will tell us a lot as to what we can expect. I hope it’ll be a game that will still somewhat feel like ark when we play.

I assume the third person only is because of the souls like combat, as i can't really see it working in first person that well, also because dying light pulled off the first person parkour pretty well imo

Ark showing us the gameplay trailer soon is 100% an assumption. It's just hopeful that we see something on 5th November, but anyone saying they will show gameplay soon is just guessing.

Horizon's combat system makes much more sense, to me, for Ark than Souls; even Dragons Dogma's combat - climbing cretaures. I'm fine with 3PP but I really do not want a lock on combat system with dodge spam.

@@CodyKish Im also really curious about how mounts will work in and out of combat. Are we gonna get a combat system for dinos like the Isle or ability based combat like Ark, where every dino has a bite and an ability or two. And how the hell will souls-like combat translate into mounted combat lol

As long as they don't let players transport dinos or max level characters from server to server it'll be fine. Tht literally ruined the game for me as you can't even start fresh on a brand new server without getting one shot from someone who uploaded everything to take over the server.
