People can point at Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon all they want, but there are two huge differences with those products. 1: Pokemon 3 card boosters are $1 and only sold at smaller box stores like dollar general/tree/etc. 2: Speed Duel is its own format with much much smaller decks than both magic, or Yu-Gi-Oh proper. They usually only add up to be 20 cards. This is just a way for wizards to sell even more bulk, further driving the prices of singles down to below the average 10-15 cents they go for now. If they made packs like this aimed at Pauper Players, that might be the best way to actually get community interest behind them. Just say a mishmash of 10 cards, 9 common, 1 uncommon creature from the last three sets for $3. If Pauper takes off, prices on those cards go up a little due to pauper having an interest, etc. doesn't tank the value of commons like value boosters will guaranteedly do. I'd be more interested in that than any other tiny booster product they're doing currently.

@@OrcaIguana at least the $1/3 cards is dividable into the typical $5/15 card booster pack, so the pricing makes sense. I know you don't get the guaranteed rare, but I bet the per card pricing of value boosters will be higher than a regular booster pack. I will be shocked if it's equal to at the very least. Edit: Honestly if it was $1 for 3 cards (If there was guaranteed no lands) I'd be all over that. That creates some insane draft potential after a few sets. Going from 3 boosters to 9 where the pulls could literally be anything sounds like an interesting thing to do once or twice.

Assassin's Creed is a perfect franchise for MTG to give a set. Ubisoft and WotC are both amazing companies who definitely care about their employees and have never fired hundreds of people around Christmas pretty much annually to make the company look more profitable on Q4 earnings calls. Ubisoft in particular are such great allies to their trans employees too. I love how they've never systematically bullied or manufactured performance issues to push out a trans employee, black listing them, and ruin their chances of obtaining unemployment in the process. Just 2 wonderful small businesses getting together to make a reasonably priced, worthwhile product for this entirely relevant franchise. You love to see it.

I know this is not a set that you have enjoyed, but the the Assassin's Creed community it has been a blast sharing pulls and having conversations about the game. A lot of new people will get into Magic because of this and I appreciate that fact and what WotC and Ubisoft have done to release a fun set for the community. While it may not be a set that the general Magic community may enjoy, there is an audience who is loving it.

It's pretty sad when one card (Sword of Feast and Famine) covers 20% of a total box price but the remaining 23.8 packs can't cover the other 80%. I typically buy booster boxes because I want enough cards from a set that I end up getting most of what I wanted, but I knew this set was one that didn't interest me enough to justify it. I took the recommended route of buying singles, and I got the four cards I wanted from this set for a little over $10. (Much better than paying $40 for a single copy of Cover of Darkness before the reprint.)

Speaking of new stuff, Bloomburrow will have "Value boosters" with 7 cards a pack where 5 are uncommon and common. 1 is a wild card rarity so probably uncommon or common most times and 1 land or traditional foil or "guest" card

I really enjoyed my pack opening experience and feel like I got very lucky with it. I got a bundle, booster box, and collectors box, and got almost every card in the set. I missed a couple ones I was after (Edward the biggest), but I got a foil etched Ezio Auditore, showcase foil Altair, a borderless Sword of F&F, and lots of high value versions of other cards. I got almost all the cards I wanted for the Assassins Creed assassin tribal historic commander deck I was scheming, just need to order some lands to fill it out. I definitely spent more on it than I could have buying early, but I am otherwise pleased!

As an assassin's creed fan I really wish they'd gone the Warhammer 40k Route with this one. Just make 2-4 Commander Precons with cool cards and themes and universe beyond reprints. I just opened my bundle and feel like I never want to open another booster of this set. After a few packs, I only need the rares now, so why wouldn't I buy singles?
