I am just so blown away by this song. I've never heard a song on this subject. It's a beautiful yet melancholy thought that I'd never before entertained. Along with the breathtaking music, the very concept is warm and humbling, a reminder of the cycle of life and the significance of the lives that have come before ours. Thank you for gracing us with this gorgeous song that never fails to make me feel both happy and sad at once.

Hazel must be the narrator's wife who committed suicide. (I say this because the detail that she "cut her arm" is a very striking detail, one that suggests suicide.) Prior to her death, it seems that he married her and moved into the house that she inherited from her family, the house that she grew up in. Still living in this house, he is now confronted with her unexpected death. He looks back at a bigger picture. His poem (their story, her story) encompasses the sun and the moon interacting with their home, and the stars which stay hidden beyond that which is seen. There was always a larger universe hidden from him. What was she whispering to herself in the empty hall? He'll never know. Where has she gone? He, along with the heavens, now wonder.
