Think for yourselves. Americans can print trillions of dollars and not cause inflation in their own economy. Where does the value of these dollars come from? Americans are exporting inflation worldwide to "harvest" the sweat and blood of billions of workers across developing countries. B&R can reduce the reliance on Americans and diversify the economic growth. Don't let your hard work be 'harvested' by a money printing machine.

The documents comes to the conclusion that these countries are falling into the debt trap, but there is no data showing how much economic growth was brought by these infrastrucutures and how much the locals have been benifited. The perception of debt trap diplomacy is the result of lending money to countries that struggle to repay debt. This is understandable. However, we need to ask one critical question... *If China didn't invest in these countries, who would? Are we supposed to let these countries wither and die?* Do these countries regret receiving China's help? I rather doubt it. They are happy just to get help from anybody. At the end of the day, the still have their infrastructure. China is not out to exploit these countries. I expect China to be very reasonable when it comes to renegotiating their debts. At least China is willing to assume the risk. The West certainly won't.

@henglim6250
@henglim6250 4 жыл бұрын
@JarJarBinks consider the scenarios logically. If a borrower does not pay back , it is the Chinese which is making the loss. Look at Hambatta, the port us leased to the Chinese for 99years but the sovereignity is still Sri Lanka. Malaysia under a new government did not like the old government deal , renegotiated and had the Chinese take a large share before staring the project. The Chinese agreed and the project is started. You haVe lost your argument because I have contradicted your facts . You know that these countries are in the BRI and Australia state of Victoria also signed on. Most of the wealthy state has the money and resource to build infrastructure and obviously poorer country need the funding. You have twisted that fact to try to protray that China is the vulgar praying on the poorer country. You are trying to demonise China good work. Good to god and cleanse yourself of evil thoughts and deeds.
@henglim6250
@henglim6250 4 жыл бұрын
@JarJarBinks your description is exactly how commercial bank provide loan. Western countries and Japanese are the same Their aid is a mean for their business to earn money. Risky venture like infrastructure projects are not so profitable and hence no western countries wants to risk it. The requirement for China manpower is negotiated and is also a condition for many western funded project. Western business is only interested in extracting the resources without infrastructure building To say that the BRI participating countries don't benefit is also a deviation of the truth. After the completion of the project, these countries will have rail link road links port or airport. These are essential to develop an economy . If you have a gold mine but don't have the road to access it or the port to export it, how can you progress. Don't repeat the CIA lies. We know the western countries are not interested in infrastructure development. USA has just promise USD 500MIL to contradict China investment in Nepal without a comprehensive. Obviously , the USA is just interested in thwarting the Chinese and not sincerely interested in Nepal development. And when neighbouring countries becomes China enemy then they will sell arm. That is why CIA is tryIng demonise China. I put it to you that you have no evidence or argument that can show that China is evil intent except to help other countries to grow and become significant trading partners . China is taking great risk.

If one studies the geography of China, it is no surprise that she planned the transport corridors via Pakistan and Myanmar. The Pakistan Corridor serves the development of her Western under-developed region while providing her access to the Middle-East fuel as well as creating more economic activities in Tibet and Xingjian, comparatively under-developed. Likewise, the corridor across Myanmar to the Bay of Bengal and hence the Indian Ocean. Of course, both these corridors have the ultimate objective of her trade with the African Continent which is growing at above international rate of growth. Isn't such a scenario requires China to plan as she does? Moreover, Pakistan has a huge population which should not be left to "create" more problems for the Asian Continent if there is no economic progress. Given such a scenario, we should view the action of China which no doubt has progressed so fast through better infrastructure and transportation. But if people still bend on seeing this from purely political and geo-political, there will be no end to the argument!

@Anak Kalimantan so your logic is you have to be 100% monk like green, or build massive, industrial coal fire power plants, and there's nothing in between? What a silly argument. The next generation is going to pay the price for such shallow thinking.
@danielbenner7583
@danielbenner7583 4 жыл бұрын
@Anak Kalimantan I get your point, people from the developed world where per capita energy consumption is high telling people in the developing world with low relative per capita energy consumption to “go green” is hypocritical. The issue is that Pakistan will start paying the price of coal energy almost immediately with more air pollution. I also don’t buy coal’s profitability anymore, and think Pakistan can develop incredibly well using other resources, most of which China makes. Ultimately, we’re all fucked if theirs a climate disaster at the end of the century.
@danielbenner7583
@danielbenner7583 4 жыл бұрын
@Anak Kalimantan agreed, and it’s unfair to expect the global south to shoulder the burden of a green revolution by themselves. I think the developed world needs to do more, largely because they are the biggest source of emissions. That being said, the global south also suffers more from air pollution, which is a significant healthcare issue (especially for the poor and working class), as well as an environmental one. Also, climate change will most negatively effect the global south, particularly South Asia, and the consequences could be dire. Pakistán can and should develop, but if it does so in an unsustainable way, thereby cursing the next generation, then I can’t see it being worthwhile for anybody.

Just some ideas: Yes, renewable energy is good. However, renewable energy is not a stable source of power you'd like to rely on, especially under industrial scenarios. Solar power only works during sunny days, wind power mostly work on spring and fall (depending on location), hydro power is stable but needs large water bodies, nuclear energy require a highly skilled stuff to run and maintain... For Pakistan, the only 3 feasible source of power is coal, solar and wind. And only coal is sufficient to power a country's industry. That's why developed countries all once fell into environmental disaster to different degrees, yet still countries after countries built coal power plants to ruin their environment.

I hope everyone read and understand the main goals of China's BRI. It's not just about linking trade in the Asia, Africa and Europe but to ultimately give the Chinese People's liberation army suitable bases and cement its title as the new superpower. This does not need much explanation if you look into how their so-called loans to undeveloped countries are totally predatory in nature. We all hate colonialist albeit the Americans or the Europeans or whatever country it is, but with China, the way its expansionism accelerates is very frightening as much as it is very oppressive to many cultures and sovereinty. Please do a lot of research before saying that China's intention of somewhat "investing" in mostly undeveloped nations questionable. Nothing in this world is free, China expects results and benefits and it must be hefty profitable and advantageous to them.
